Sam Davies (cricketer)
Samuel Llyr Davies (born 30 January 1992) is a Welsh people, Welsh cricketer. Davies is a right-handed batsman (cricket), batsman who bowls left-arm Seam bowling, medium pace. He was born at Neath, Glamorgan, and was educated at :cy:Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera, Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera School and Neath Port Talbot College, Neath College. Davies made his 2nd XI debut for Glamorgan vs MCC young cricketers and has to date made over 25 appearances for the county. He later made his Test Match debut for Wales Minor Counties Cricket Club, Wales Minor Counties against Lincolnshire County Cricket Club, Lincolnshire in the 2009 MCCA Knockout Trophy. His Minor Counties Championship debut came in the same season against Shropshire County Cricket Club, Shropshire. To date he has made fourteen Minor Counties Championship and ten MCCA Knockout Trophy appearances. Neath (; cy, Castell-nedd) is a market town and community situated in the Neath Port Talbot County Borough, Wales. The town had a population of 50,658 in 2011. The community of the parish of Neath had a population of 19,258 in 2011. Historically in Glamorgan, the town is located on the River Neath, east-northeast of Swansea. Minor Counties Championship
The NCCA 3 Day Championship (previously the Minor Counties Cricket Championship) is a season-long competition in England and Wales that is contested by the members of the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), the so-called national counties that do not have first-class status. History The competition began in 1895, with the Worcestershire honorary secretary Paul Foley being influential in its creation. First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams.
