Sam Carlson
Samuel Carlson (born December 3, 1998) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. Amateur career Carlson attended Burnsville High School in Burnsville, Minnesota. During his senior year, Carlson had a jump in velocity, going from the 88–92 miles per hour range to 93–97. He posted a 0.93 ERA (9th in state and 2nd on Burnsville) and 53 strikeouts (28th in state) over 34 innings, and was named Minnesota Mr. Baseball. He committed to play college baseball for the Florida Gators. Professional career Seattle Mariners Carlson was selected in the second round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by the Seattle Mariners. He signed with the Mariners for $2 million. He made his professional debut with the Arizona League Mariners, pitching only three innings before being shut down due to minor elbow discomfort. Modesto Nuts
The Modesto Nuts are a Minor League Baseball team of the California League and the Single-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. They are located in Modesto, California, and are named for the several types of nuts grown in the region. They play their home games at John Thurman Field, which opened in 1955. The Nuts adopted their current name in 2005 after the team's affiliation with the Oakland Athletics ended. Before then, the team was known as the Modesto Athletics (or A's) from 1975 to 2004. The Biloxi Shuckers are a Minor League Baseball team of the Southern League and the Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. They are located in Biloxi, Mississippi, and are named in reference to the city's oyster industry and seafood heritage. The Shuckers play their home games at MGM Park. The team began play in 2015 after the Southern League's Huntsville Stars relocated to Biloxi following the 2014 season. With Major League Baseball's restructuring of Minor League Baseball in 2021, the Shuckers were placed in the Double-A South, which became the Southern League in 2022.
