Sam Acheampong
Samuel Acheampong (born January 12, 1996) is a Canadian professional football defensive lineman for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). University career Acheampong attended Wilfrid Laurier University from 2015 to 2019 and played for the Golden Hawks, while being named a First Team OUA All-Star in his final year. Professional career Toronto Argonauts Acheampong was selected 20th overall by the Toronto Argonauts in the second round of the 2020 CFL Draft. After the cancellation of the 2020 CFL season, he made the team's active roster following training camp in 2021 and played in his first professional game on August 7, 2021. Acheampong recorded his first career sack and a blocked field goal attempt in a Week 13 playoff-clinching win over the BC Lions on October 30, 2021. In gridiron football, a sack occurs when the quarterback (or another offensive player acting as a passer) is tackled behind the line of scrimmage before throwing a forward pass, when the quarterback is tackled behind the line of scrimmage in the " pocket" and without clear intent, or when a passer runs out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage due to defensive pressure. Xavier Jamar Gipson (born March 8, 2001) is an American football wide receiver for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Stephen F. Austin. Early years Gipson grew up in Dallas, Texas and attended Woodrow Wilson High School. He was a four-year starter on the football team at cornerback and also began playing wide receiver during his senior season. Gipson initially committed to play college football at Southern Methodist University as a cornerback. He later flipped his commitment to Stephen F. The 2023 Toronto Argonauts season was the 65th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 150th year of existence. The Argonauts entered the season as defending champions following their victory in the 109th Grey Cup. The team attempted to win their league-leading 19th Grey Cup championship, but were defeated by the Montreal Alouettes in the East Final. The Argonauts qualified for the playoffs for a third consecutive season following their week 11 victory over the Montreal Alouettes. The 109th Grey Cup decided the Canadian Football League (CFL) championship for the 2022 season. The game was played on November 20, at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan.
