Akal Wood Fossil Park
Akal Wood Fossil Park is a National Geological Monument of India located in Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan. It is also a Biodiversity Heritage Site. It is 21 hectares in extent and is located in Akal village, 17–18 km southeast of Jaisalmer city, and 1 km off the NH-68 Jaisalmer- Barmer road, on a stretch of about 10 km2 of bare hillside. The terrain is barren and rocky. The park lies in Jaisalmer's fossil belt, a region noted to have the potential for geological parks. Fossils and footprints of pterosaurs have been found in the nearby Thaiyat area. The park contains fossils of Pterophyllum, ''Ptilophyllum'', ''Equisetites'' species and dicotyledonous wood and gastropod shells of the Early Jurassic period. There are about a dozen fossilised wood logs lying horizontally oriented in random directions, the largest of which is 13.4 m in length and 0.9 m in width. Desert National Park
Desert National Park is a national park in the Indian state of Rajasthan, near the towns of Jaisalmer and Barmer. It is one of the largest national parks, covering an area of in the Thar Desert. Sand dunes form around 44% of the park. The major landform consists of craggy rocks and compact salt lake bottoms, intermedial areas and fixed dunes. It was gazetted in 1980. Despite a fragile ecosystem, it harbours an abundance of birdlife, both migratory and resident birds, including short-toed eagle, tawny eagle, spotted eagle, laggar falcon, kestrel, sand grouse and great Indian bustard. Desert National Park has a collection of fossils of animals and plants which are 180 million years old. Some fossils of dinosaurs which are 60 million years old were found in the area. Kuldhara
Kuldhara is an abandoned village in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan, India. Established around the 13th century, it was once a prosperous village inhabited by Paliwal Brahmins. It was abandoned by the early 19th century for unknown reasons, possibly because of dwindling water supply, an earthquake, or as a local legend claims, because of the atrocities by the Jaisalmer State's minister Salim Singh. Over the years, Kuldhara has acquired a reputation as a List of reportedly haunted locations, haunted site, and the Government of Rajasthan decided to develop it as a tourist spot in the 2010s. Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School
Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School is a girls' school in the rural Thar Desert of Jaisalmer in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The school is unique in that the architects designed it in the shape of an oval that can withstand temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius. The school can accommodate 400 girls from kindergarten to tenth grade. The school is aimed to provide education and training in traditional skill sets such as artistry, weaving, embroidery for women. Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School is owned and managed by CITTA India, and was designed by Diana Kellogg Architects.
