Salvation (ManuElla Song)
"Salvation" is a song recorded by Slovenian singer-songwriter ManuElla and the follow-up to her Eurovision Song Contest entry "Blue and Red". It was written by Maja Keuc, Marjan Hvala and Manuella Brečko. The track was released on February 24, 2017, as a stand-alone single, and was performed for the first time at EMA 2017, in which ManuElla had a guest slot. Backed by an instrumentation of guitars and drums, the country-pop track has feel-good and inspirational lyrics. Commercial performance Although the song didn't impact any official chart, 'Salvation' performed well on streaming services, especially Spotify. Due to its high streams, the song is currently the highest streamed non-Eurovision single by a Slovenian solo artist. Critical reception The track received generally favourable reviews from critics. ManuElla
Manuella (1809 – after 1831) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare who won the classic Oaks Stakes at Epsom Downs Racecourse in 1812. Unraced as a two-year-old, the Northern-trained filly was fancied to win The Derby on her racecourse debut but finished unplaced. She won the Oaks a day later, but was beaten when favourite for the St Leger Stakes. She won two more races (one of them a walkover) and changed hands more than once before being retired from racing at the end of the 1814 season. She was a successful and influential broodmare, whose direct descendants have won many important races. Background Manuella was an "elegant" bay mare bred by Richard Watt of Bishop Burton in Yorkshire. She was sired by Dick Andrews, a grandson of Eclipse whose other progeny included the 2000 Guineas winner Cwrw, the St Leger Stakes winner Altisidora and the successful stallions Tramp and Muley Moloch. Blue And Red
Slovenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Blue and Red" written by Marjan Hvala, Manuella Brečko and Leon Oblak. The song was performed by ManuElla. Slovenian broadcaster Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTV Slovenija) organised the national final ''EMA 2016'' in order to select the Slovenian entry for the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Ten entries competed in the national final where the winner was selected over two rounds of voting. In the first round, the top two entries were selected by a three-member jury panel. In the second round, "Blue and Red" performed by ManuElla was selected as the winner entirely by a public vote. Slovenia was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 12 May 2016.
