Salvador Abcede
Col. Salvador Abcede (September 6, 1913 – August 19, 1982), a Philippine Army Officer and was the leader of the anti-Japanese Guerrilla warfare, guerrilla group on Negros.Lapham, R., and Norling, B., 1996, Lapham's Raiders, Lexington: The University Press of Kentucky, during Japanese Occupation and commander of 20th Battalion Combat Team who fought in Korean War. Early Life and Education Abcede was born on September 6, 1913 in Indan (now Vinzons), Camarines Norte to parents Felimon Abcede and Dorotea Sureta. He took his early education in Indan Elementary School and Indan High School. In 1935 he took attended Philippine Constabulary Academy and graduated in 1937 just as the Academy transitioned to a Military Academy. List Of American Guerrillas In The Philippines
After the invasion of the Philippines by the Japanese in 1941, several Americans, civilian and military, evaded capture or escaped imprisonment. This occurred on several islands in the archipelago. With the aid of the local Philippine population, these Americans survived. However, not content with just surviving and avoiding capture, these Americans formed resistance groups, which were soon recognized by the American military, and eventually supplied. Initially relegated to an intelligence gathering role, these groups eventually took a more active and aggressive role, such that they were an integral part of the American re-conquest of the country. BRP ''Salvador Abcede'' (PC-114) was a ''Tomas Batilo''-class fast attack craft of the Philippine Navy. It was part of the first batch transferred by the South Korean government on 15 June 1995, and arrived in the Philippines in August 1995. It was commissioned with the Philippine Navy on 22 May 1996. History It was upgraded under the Patrol Killer Medium-Republic of the Philippines (PKM-RP) Program of 2010 by Propmech Corp., the program includes the reinforcement of its hull, replacing the engines, radar, navigation and communication systems, and changing the weapons fit-out to include crane and space for rubber boats. The ship was part of the Philippine Navy contingent during the US-Philippines CARAT 2012 sea-phase exercises.
