Salut (song)
''Salut'' is a song performed by Joe Dassin from his 1975 album ''Joe Dassin (Le Costume blanc)'' (CBS 81147). It was also released as a single (music), single, in 1976 with "Et si tu n'existais pas" on the other side. It is a French adaptation, by Pierre Delanoë and Claude Lemesle, of an Italian song, "Uomo dove vai" (by Toto Cutugno). It is one of the most famous songs by Joe Dassin. Joe Dassin
Joseph Ira Dassin (; November 5, 1938 – August 20, 1980) was an American–French singer-songwriter. In his career spanning sixteen years (1964–1980), he enjoyed numerous successes in France and the French-speaking world, as well as singing in languages other than French. He had a career in Finland, Greece, and Germany. In total, he sold nearly 25 million records worldwide. He was the son of film director Jules Dassin. Early life Dassin was born in Brooklyn, New York to American film director Jules Dassin (1911–2008) and Béatrice Launer (1913–1994), a New York-born violinist, who after graduating from a Hebrew High School in the Bronx studied with the British violinist Harold Berkely at the Juilliard School of Music. Salvatore "Toto" Cutugno (; 7 July 1943 – 22 August 2023) was an Italian Italian popular music, pop singer-songwriter, musician, and television presenter. The term is most commonly used in English to refer either to the secular polyphonic French songs of late medieval and Renaissance music or to a specific style of French pop music which emerged in the 1950s and 1960s.
