Amaral (band)
Amaral is a Spanish rock duo from Zaragoza, who have sold more than four million albums worldwide. The band consists of Eva Amaral (vocals) and Juan Aguirre (guitar), who write their songs together. Amaral and Aguirre met in 1992 in a bar in Zaragoza. She played drums in a local punk rock band called Bandera Blanca and also sang with Acid Rain. Aguirre was playing with a band called Días de Vino y Rosas at the time. Soon after they met, the two decided to play together and perform their own material. In 1997, they moved to Madrid and signed a major deal with EMI. Amaral's musical style is often called pop rock, but it is often fused with Latin beats, folk rock, synthesizers, complex poetic lyrics, and in particular, traditional Spanish folk music. ''Nocturnal'' is the seventh studio album by Spanish band Amaral. The songs were composed by Eva Amaral and Juan Aguirre, while the recording included the participation of Guillermo Quero as the sound and mixing engineer, Toni Toledo and Ged Lynch playing the drums, Chris Taylor on the bass and Tomás Virgos on the piano. Also, Nus Cuevas contributed an arrangement of strings, Abraham Boba played the organ for one of the songs, and John Calvert and David Antony Brinkworth, along with Eva and Juan themselves, undertook the synth programming. Eva Amaral and Juan Aguirre also took charge of the production, along with Chris Taylor. It is the second album published under the label created by the duo, ''Discos Antártida''. It went on sale on 30 October 2015 and includes 14 tracks. Eva Amaral
Eva María Amaral Lallana (Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain 4 August 1972) is a Spanish singer-songwriter, and a member of the group Amaral with Juan Aguirre. She studied sculpture at the Zaragoza art school, and whil studying was the drummer in the band Bandera Blanca. In 1993, she met guitarist Juan Aguirre, a member of the band Días De Vino Y Rosas, and together, they formed the group Amaral. They moved to Madrid and later signed a contract with Virgin Records. They have recorded six successful studio albums and performed as support for Lenny Kravitz's Spanish concerts. Their song ''Rosa de la Paz'' was included in a record to support Prestige boat victims, also performing at the ''Nunca Máis'' demonstration in Madrid. Moby performed with Eva Amaral on the song "Escapar", the Spanish version of the Amaral song "Slipping Away". Martin Codax
Martin Codax or Codaz, Martín Codax () or Martim Codax () was a Galician medieval ''joglar'' (non-noble composer and performer, as opposed to a ''trobador''), possibly from Vigo, Galicia in present-day Spain. He may have been active during the middle of the thirteenth century, judging from scriptological analysis. He is one of only two out of a total of 88 authors of ''cantigas d'amigo'' who used ''only'' the archaic strophic form ''aaB'' (a rhymed distich followed by a refrain). He employed an archaic rhyme-system whereby ''i~o / a~o'' were used in alternating strophes. In addition Martin Codax consistently utilised a strict parallelistic technique known as ''leixa-pren'' (see the example below; the order of the third and fourth strophes is inverted in the Pergaminho Vindel but the correct order appears in the Cancioneiro da Biblioteca Nacional in Portugal, and the Cancioneiro da Vaticana).
