Saltkråkan
''Life on Seacrow Island'' (') is a Sweden, Swedish TV series, consisting of thirteen 25-minute episodes from 1964. The script for the series was written by Astrid Lindgren, who later re-wrote it as a book, also titled ''Vi på Saltkråkan'' (published in English as ''Seacrow Island'' in 1964). Astrid Lindgren was closely involved in the filming and editing of the series, which took place on Norröra in the Stockholm archipelago. The series was produced and directed by Olle Hellbom. Plot The series tells the story of a family from Stockholm, consisting of the widowed author Melker Melkersson (Torsten Lilliecrona) and his four children: 19-year-old Malin (Louise Edlind Friberg, Louise Edlind) who assumes the role of mother in the family, the imaginative 13-year-old Johan, 12-year-old Niklas who is calm and down-to-earth, and 7-year-old Pelle, who loves animals of all kinds. ''Seacrow Island'' (original title: ''Vi på Saltkråkan'') is a children's book written by Astrid Lindgren. The story continues in the book ''Scrap and the Pirates''. Plot Family Melkersson from Stockholm goes to Seacrow Island to live at Carpenter's Cottage during their summer holidays. Melker, a widowed father of four, has rented the house, without seeing it before. When it starts raining through the roof, the family is a little disappointed but soon begins to love the house by the sea. While the 19-year-old daughter Malin, takes care of the house and goes on dates, her oldest brothers Johan and Niklas befriend with Teddy and Freddy who are living on the Island. Torsten Lilliecrona (4 January 1921 – 15 October 1999) was a Swedish actor. He is mostly famous for his role as Melker Melkersson in the highly successful TV show ''Vi på Saltkråkan'' (Life on Seacrow Island) for which Astrid Lindgren wrote the script. Ulf Björlin
Mats Ulf Stefan Björlin (21 May 1933 – 23 October 1993) was a Swedish composer and conductor. Bjorlin was known for being one of the most active opera composers in the 20th century. Biography Björlin was born in Stockholm in 1933. He studied music with conductor Igor Markevitch in Salzburg, Austria at age 19 and later continued his studies at the Conservatoire de Paris, with teacher Nadia Boulanger. After completing his military service, he worked at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm and at the Malmö College of Music. From 1962, he was employed as musical producer at Sveriges Radio and wrote music for several movies and television productions, including the series of films and TV series about the children on the island Saltkråkan (Seacrow Island), based on Astrid Lindgren's scripts. Maria Johansson (actress)
Maria Gunilla Johansson Tovle (born 7 April 1956 in Stockholm) is a Swedish actress, film director and professor at the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. In 1963, at the age of 6, Johansson auditioned for the part of "Tjorven" in the TV series '' Vi på Saltkråkan'' written by Astrid Lindgren, and was accepted. She played Tjorven in the series as well as in four subsequent full-length movies produced in 1964–1967. Johansson studied at the Swedish National Academy of Mime and Acting until 1981. She worked as a film, TV, and theatre actress until 1998, when she started working as a director. She became interested in research on acting, and received a master's degree and a PhD at Södertörn University. Her PhD thesis from 2012 is called ''Skådespelarens praktiska kunskap'' (''The actor's practical knowledge''). She is Professor of Research in the Arts at the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. Bengt Gunnar Eklund (18 January 1925 – 19 January 1998) was a Swedish actor. He is well known as Nisse Granqvist in the 1964 TV series '' Vi på Saltkråkan''.
