Mahesh Singh Jeena is an Indian politician. He was elected to the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly from Salt Assembly constituency in the 2021 Uttarakhand legislative assembly by-election and 2022 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly election as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He defeated Ganga Pancholi of Indian National Congress by 4,600 votes in 2021 By-elections. Almora is a district in the Kumaon Division of Uttarakhand state, India. The headquarters is at Almora. It is 1,638 meters above sea level. The neighbouring regions are Pithoragarh district to the east, Chamoli district to the west, Bageshwar district to the north and Nainital district to the south. History The ancient town of Almora was capital of the Kumaon Kingdom, before its establishment, it was under the possession of Katyuri king Baichaldeo. Later on when the Chand dynasty was founded in Champawat, the town of Almora was founded at this centrally located place in 1568 by Kalyan Chand. Later Chand kings shifted the capital of the Kumaon Kingdom from Champawat to Almora. 2017 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Election
The 2017 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly election were the 4th Vidhan Sabha ( Legislative Assembly) election of the state of Uttarakhand in India. Elections were held on 15 February 2017 in a single phase for the 69 seats of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. Voting in the Karnaprayag constituency was postponed until 9 March 2017 due to the death of BSP candidate Kuldeep Kanwasi in a road accident. In the previous election in 2012, none of the parties won a majority but the Indian National Congress formed the government with the help of PDF in the leadership of Vijay Bahuguna. The voter turnout for the 69 seats of Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly that held on 15 February was 65.64% which is less than the last election's voter turnout of 66.85%. Surendra Singh Jeena (8 December 1969 – 12 November 2020) was an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Biography Jeena was a member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly from the Salt constituency in Almora district. He made it through to legislative assembly for the third time in a row. 2022 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Election
Legislative Assembly elections were held in Uttarakhand on 14 February 2022 to elect 70 members of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly.
