Sally Ann Matthews
Sally Ann Matthews (born 19 September 1970) is an English actress. She is known for playing the roles of Jenny Bradley in the ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street and'' ''Emmerdale as'' Sandra Briggs Career Matthews was born in Oldham, Lancashire. She played Jenny Bradley, the daughter of the villainous Alan Bradley ( Mark Eden) in ''Coronation Street'' from 1986 to 1991, making a brief return in 1993. She returned to ''Coronation Street'' as Jenny in February 2015. In 2005 Matthews joined the cast of ''Emmerdale'' as farmer's wife Sandra Briggs, but left less than a year later. In an interview with ''Inside Soap'', the show's executive producer, Kathleen Beedles, admitted casting Matthews, well-known to soap fans from ''Coronation Street'', in what would essentially become a minor role was a mistake. Oldham is a town in Greater Manchester, England. ''Dalziel and Pascoe'' is a British television crime drama based on the mystery novels of the same name, written by Reginald Hill. The series was first broadcast on 16 March 1996, with Warren Clarke being cast as Dalziel (pronounced "dee-ell", ) and Colin Buchanan being cast as Pascoe. ''The Bill'' is a British police procedural television series, broadcast on ITV (TV network), ITV from 16 October 1984 until 31 August 2010. The programme originated from a one-off drama, "Woodentop (The Bill), Woodentop" (part of the ''Storyboard'' series), broadcast on 16 August 1983. ''Brassed Off'' is a 1996 British comedy-drama film written and directed by Mark Herman and starring Pete Postlethwaite, Tara Fitzgerald and Ewan McGregor. The film is about the troubles faced by a colliery brass band, following the closure of their pit. The soundtrack for the film was provided by the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, and the plot is based on Grimethorpe's own struggles against pit closures. It has been generally very positively received for its role in promoting brass bands and their music. Parts of the film make reference to the huge increase in suicides that resulted from the end of the coal industry in Britain, and the struggle to retain hope in the circumstances. The Grove Family
''The Grove Family'' is a British television series soap opera, generally regarded as the first of its kind broadcast in the UK, made and broadcast by the BBC Television Service from 1954 to 1957. The series concerned the life of the family of the title, who were named after the BBC's Lime Grove Studios, where the programme was made. The programme was written by Roland and Michael Pertwee, respectively, the father and elder brother of actor Jon Pertwee. As was common for British television at the time, the series was broadcast live, and very few episodes survive in the archives: only three of the original 148 episodes. One of the few surviving shows was transmitted on BBC Four during 2004. A film version produced during 1955 by the Butchers company, written by the Pertwees and featuring the television cast, exists as an example of the series. The British Soap Awards (BSAs) are an annual awards ceremony in the United Kingdom which honours the best moments in British soap operas. The ceremony is televised on ITV. The trophies given to the winners are made from metal and glass and have been manufactured by British firm Creative Awards since their inception. The majority of the awards are voted for by a panel of industry professionals, while certain awards including Best British Soap and Best Leading Performer are voted for by the general public.
