Salinõmme Peninsula
Salinõmme peninsula is a peninsula in southeastern Hiiumaa, 5 km to south of Suuremõisa, Hiiu County, Suuremõisa, an Estonian territory in the Baltic Sea. It lies in east of Salinõmme Bay and in west of Soonlepa Bay. Village of Salinõmme comprises all of the peninsula. In 1870 the peninsula was still an island. Hiiumaa
Hiiumaa ( , ) is the second largest island in Estonia and is part of the West Estonian archipelago, in the Baltic Sea. It has an area of 989 km2 and is 22 km from the Estonian mainland. Its largest town is Kärdla. It is located within Hiiu County. Names Administratively Hiiumaa is the "main island" of the Hiiu County, called or in Estonian. Suuremõisa, Hiiu County
Suuremõisa () () is a village in Hiiumaa Parish, Hiiu County in northwestern Estonia. The village has 299 inhabitants and therefore is the largest village of the municipality. Soviet Estonian politician Meta Vannas (1924–2002), was born in Suuremõisa. Suuremõisa Manor Suuremõisa is the site of the grandest baroque manor ensemble in Estonia. Although the history of the estate can be traced back to at least the 16th century, the current building was erected in 1755-60 by the Stenbock (family), Stenbock family. The architect supposedly was Joseph Gabriel Destain. In 1772, the main house was extended with two one-floor wings and a ceremonial courtyard. Inspiration for the architecture, notably the hipped mansard roof and the two wings, came from Ulriksdal Palace in Sweden. The building ensemble still displays some of the original details, like the fine carved baroque main door. Baltic Sea
The Baltic Sea is an arm of the Atlantic Ocean that is enclosed by the countries of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Sweden, and the North European Plain, North and Central European Plain regions. Hiiumaa Parish
Hiiumaa Parish ( Estonian: ''Hiiumaa vald'') is a rural municipality of Estonia on the island of Hiiumaa. Hiiumaa Parish was established by merging Emmaste Parish, Hiiu Parish, Käina Parish and Pühalepa Parish after the municipal elections held on 15 October 2017. Kärdla is the administrative center of the municipality. The current mayor (''vallavanem'') is Hergo Tasuja. The municipalities of Emmaste and Pühalepa contested their forced merger with Hiiu and Käina to form the new Hiiumaa municipality, which includes the whole island and what is Hiiu County.
