Salim Khatri
Maulana Salim Khatri (died; 22 March 2023) was a religious leader in Pakistan. He was well known for his opinions on religion and politics, which some people found controversial. He lived his entire life in Karachi and had many followers in the city. He was associated with the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), a religious and political organization in Pakistan and was a prominent figure in the ASWJ. He was known for his views on religion and politics. Maulana Khatri was an important figure for the Sunni community in Karachi. Death On 22 March 2023, in Karachi, four people on two motorcycles shot Maulana Khatri five times while he was at a pan shop near his house in the area of the Bilal Colony police station in Sector 5-E of the New Karachi. He was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead. New Karachi
New Karachi Town ( ur, ) lies in the northern part of the city Gulberg Town. It was formed when katchi abadis were resettled following the 1958 coup d'état. In 2001 it was subdivided into 13 union councils. The town system was disbanded in 2011, and New Karachi Town was re-organized as part of Karachi Central District in 2015. Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a
Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a (ASWJ) ( so, Ahlu Suna Waljamaaca) is a Somalia-based paramilitary group consisting of moderate Sufis opposed to radical Salafism. The group opposes hardline capital punishment or limb amputations advocated by extremist interpretations of Islam, as well as laws banning music and khat. They oppose the demolition of religious shrines and stoning. Background The Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a was formed in 1991, before the existence of Al-Shabaab, in opposition to Salafi Islamist groups such as Al Ittihad Al Islamiya. Originally the group focussed on community religious affairs and was not primarily a militant organization. Sectarian violence in Pakistan refers to attacks and counter-attacks against people and places in Pakistan motivated by antagonism toward the target's sect, usually a religious extremist group. Targets in Pakistan include the Shia, Barelvis, Sunnis, Sufis, Ahmadis, Hindus and small groups of Deobandis.
