Sakuliu Pavavaljung
Sakuliu Pavavaljung (born 1960) is a Taiwanese Paiwan artist. Early life Sakuliu Pavavaljung was born in 1960, in Sandimen, Pingtung County, Republished and translated as: and resides in the village of Koushe. His family made iron knives for several generations. Sakuliu Pavavaljung's father named him after his paternal grandmother's father. Sakuliu Pavavaljung's three older siblings had died in infancy, so his father chose the name to evoke an ancestor that evil spirits had respected. Etan Pavavaljung, his younger brother, is a painter and woodcutter. Career Sakuliu Pavavaljung's art is inspired by the intersection of his native Paiwan culture and changes within contemporary life. As the Paiwan language does not have a word for ''artist'', Sakuliu Pavavaljung considers himself a ''Pulima'', a Paiwan name that means 'many hands', bestowed upon those with artistic skill. Sandimen
Sandimen Township is a mountain indigenous township in Pingtung County, Taiwan Province, Republic of China. The population of the township consists mainly of the Paiwan people with a substantial Rukai minority. Names Ethnic Chinese settlers adapted the original Paiwan name into Hokkien (; or ). Under Japanese rule the name was . Following the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, the area became Sandimeng Township () but the name was changed again in 1947 to Sandi Township () but the Taiwanese pronunciation of ''Soaⁿ-tē-mn̂g'' continued to be commonly used. In August 1992, the township assumed its current name. ''documenta'' is an exhibition of contemporary art which takes place every five years in Kassel, Germany. The ''documenta'' was founded by artist, teacher and curator Arnold Bode in 1955 as part of the Bundesgartenschau (Federal Horticultural Show) which took place in Kassel at that time. It was an attempt to bring Germany up to speed with modern art, both banishing and repressing the cultural darkness of Nazism. This first ''documenta'' featured many artists who are generally considered to have had a significant influence on modern art (such as Picasso and Kandinsky). Taipei Fine Arts Museum
The Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TFAM; ) is a museum in Zhongshan District, Taipei, Taiwan. It is in the Taipei Expo Park. The museum first opened on August 8, 1983, at the former site of the United States Taiwan Defense Command. It was the first museum in Taiwan built for contemporary art exhibitions. The architecture is a local interpretation of the Japanese Metabolist Movement, and the building was designed by architect Kao Er-Pan.
