Sakit Aliyev
Sakit Aliyev (22 December 1965 – 12 October 2015) was an Azerbaijani professional footballer who most notable played as a defender for Turan Tovuz and the Azerbaijan national team. Aliyev also managed Turan Tovuz on two occasions, between 2006 and 2007 and again in 2010. On 12 October 2015, after a long illness, Aliyev died in his home town of Turan. Tovuz, Azerbaijan
Tovuz () is a city and the capital of the Tovuz District of Azerbaijan. It's famous for its wine-making, and it also has several archaeological sites. Tovuz region was established on August 8, 1930. The district is one of the largest agricultural districts in the country, its area is 1942 sq. km, and its population is 177.2 thousand people as of 01.01.2020. Etymology ''Tovuz'' means The abode of the Oghuz Turks in the Azerbaijani language, and comes from Turkic language. The city itself, however, takes its name from an Oghuz tribe. Territory There are 2 cities (Tovuz and Govlar) and 102 villages in Tovuz region. There are 43 administrative territorial districts and 41 municipalities in the region. 1997–98 Azerbaijan Top League
The 1997-98 Azerbaijan Top League was the seventh season of the Azerbaijan Top League, since their independence from the USSR in August 1991, and was contested by 15 clubs. Kapaz won their second title and Qarabağ and the Azerbaijan U-18 team were relegated. Khazri Buzovna pulled out of the league and dissolved after 8 games, as did Kur Nur at the end of the season. Azerbaijan Cup
The Azerbaijan Cup is a major association football competition in Azerbaijan. In its original form, it started in 1936, when Azerbaijan was a republic of the Soviet Union and it was not disputed by Azerbaijani teams in the Soviet league pyramid. Compared to cups in many other countries, Azerbaijan attracts considerably less public interest and even the cup final is rarely sold out. Consequently, the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan has experimented with the format in order to raise the profile of the cup. Format The clubs from Azerbaijan First Division (2nd tier) play in the First Round. The winners of that round advance to the Second Round, where the clubs from Azerbaijan Premier League (1st tier) join. For the quarterfinals and the semifinals, the round-robin system is used. The 1993-94 Azerbaijan Top League was the third season of the Azerbaijan Top League and was contested by 16 clubs with 2 points awarded for a win, 1 for a draw and no points were awarded for a defeat.
