Saki (TV Series)
''Saki'' is a 1962 British television series which was produced by Granada Television and aired on ITV. It was an anthology series adapting the works of writer Saki (born Hector Hugh Munro). Eight episodes were produced. Philip Mackie
Philip Mackie (26 November 1918 – 23 December 1985) was a British film and television screenwriter. He was born in Salford in Lancashire, England. He graduated in 1939 from University College London and worked for the Ministry of Information Films Division which began a career in film. Work In August 1955 Mackie became, along with Nigel Kneale, one of the first two staff scriptwriters to be employed by BBC Television; scriptwriters had previously been employed on short-term or freelance contracts. The same year he adapted one of his television works into a successful stage play '' The Whole Truth'' which ran for more than a hundred performances in the West End and was then adapted into a film of the same title by Columbia Pictures. In the early 1960s he wrote several screenplays for the series of films made at Merton Park Studios, loosely based on Edgar Wallace stories and novels. Edward Boyd (writer)
Edward Boyd (1916 – 17 December 1989) was a Scotland, Scottish writer best known for his television and radio work. He worked with the Glasgow Unity Theatre in the 1940s.Glasgow University Collection Later he moved into radio and TV. In the 1960s he created series such as ''The Odd Man'' and ''The Corridor People'' for Granada TV, and wrote for a number of shows including ''Z-Cars'' on the BBC. Silvio Narizzano (8 February 192726 July 2011) was a Canadian film and television director who worked primarily in the United Kingdom. Gerald Savory
Gerald Douglas Savory (17 November 1909 – 9 February 1996) was an English writer and television producer specialising in comedies. Biography The son of Kenneth Douglas Savory and actress Grace Lane (1877–1956), he was educated at Bradfield College and worked as a stockbroker's clerk before turning to the stage (Hull Repertory Theatre Company 1931–33), first as an actor then a writer. His play '' George and Margaret'', written while out of work as an actor, ran for two years at Wyndham's Theatre and a year at the Piccadilly. It then transferred to Broadway, where it ran for 86 performances, and was later filmed. His earliest work in the film industry was as a dialogue writer for director Alfred Hitchcock's '' Young and Innocent'' (1937). ITV Granada
ITV Granada, formerly known as Granada Television, is the ITV franchisee for the North West of England and Isle of Man. From 1956 to 1968 it broadcast to both the north west and Yorkshire but only on weekdays as ABC Weekend Television was its weekend counterpart.
