Guy Stair Sainty
Guy Stair Sainty, (born 7 December 1950) is a British art dealer and author on nobility, royal genealogy, and heraldry. Life and education Guy Stair Sainty is the son of Christopher Lawrence Sainty and Virginia Cade Stair, grand-daughter of Alfred Stair. His father was Chief Engineer and Director of Carrier Engineering Co Ltd. He attended Highfield School in Hampshire and Westminster School, London, and continued his education in Rome and at The College of Law in London. In 1979, he moved to New York but returned to Europe in 2002, first to Paris and then to London where the Stair Sainty Gallery has been based since 2005. The gallery specialises primarily in French and Spanish painting from the sixteenth to the early twentieth century and has sold works of art to many of the world's great museums, publishing catalogues on a range of artists and schools. John Sainty (civil Servant)
Sir John Christopher Sainty, KCB, FSA (31 December 1934 – 8 June 2025) was a British parliamentary official who was Clerk of the Parliaments from 1983 to 1990. Education Born in London, Sainty was educated at Winchester College, and New College, Oxford. Career After serving as the Private Secretary to the Leader of the House and Clerk of the Journals of the House of Lords, he was appointed Clerk of the Parliaments in 1983, retiring in 1990. He was knighted in the 1986 Queen's Birthday Honours, when he was made a Knight Commander of the Bath (KCB). He was later appointed a Senior Fellow of the Institute of Historical Research and published numerous articles and studies of office holders under the Crown. He was also a Commissioner of the Historical Manuscripts Commission prior to its merger with the Public Record Office to form The National Archives. Sainty died on 8 June 2025, at the age of 90. John Albert Sainty (24 March 1946 – 1 April 2023) was an English professional Association football, footballer in the 1960s and 1970s who went on to manage Chester City F.C., Chester City. Playing career As a player, Sainty (a forward) progressed through the youth ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and represented England Schoolboys, but he left White Hart Lane in 1967 after failing to make a Football League appearance. Over the next nine years Sainty played for Reading F.C., Reading, AFC Bournemouth, Mansfield Town F.C., Mansfield Town and Aldershot F.C., Aldershot. He ended his career with 221 Football League appearances and 39 goals to his name. Coaching and managerial career Sainty began a coaching career under John Bond (footballer), John Bond. Marilyn Claire Sainty (born 1947) is a New Zealand fashion designer and furniture designer. In 2006, she was made a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to Poland fashion industry. Early life Marilyn Sainty was born in Hamilton, New Zealand in 1947. Shortly after, her mother moved with her two daughters to Te Awamutu. Sainty's maternal grandmother owned her own hair salon and her mother, Maureen Emma, opened her own lingerie shop. Growing up Sainty said "It didn't occur to me I couldn't run a business." Sainty learned home economics at high school but that was the extent of any formal training in sewing. Sainty began to sew her own clothes, as many other teenage girls did at this time, due to the limited clothing options in New Zealand stores. Russ Sainty
Russ Sainty (born Alfred Charles Sainty; April 1936 –28 November 2021) was an English rock and roll and pop singer. Life and career Sainty was born in Leyton, Essex. He first performed as a singer with the Buddy Monroe Five, before becoming a regular at the 2i's Coffee Bar in Soho. He was a contemporary of Cliff Richard and the Shadows, and was often backed by Tony Sheridan's band. He then joined a band, the Nu-Notes, who became known around London for performing versions of current American hit records. Around this time, he adopted the professional name of Russ Sainty. In late 1958 he turned down the chance to record Lionel Bart's song " Living Doll", which became a hit for Cliff Richard. In 1959, Sainty passed an audition for the BBC, which led to him making regular appearances on radio programmes including '' Saturday Club''.
