Saint John—St. Croix
Saint John—St. Croix (formerly New Brunswick Southwest) is a federal electoral district in New Brunswick, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2004. Its population in 2016 was 65,287. Political geography As the name implies, the district comprises the southwestern portion of New Brunswick. It includes all of Charlotte County and portions of York, Sunbury, Queens, Kings and Saint John Counties. Major towns include St. Stephen, St. Andrews, St. George, Grand Bay–Westfield, McAdam, Harvey Station, Fredericton Junction, Arcadia, and the Kingsclear and Hanwell regions near Fredericton. Valley Waters
Valley Waters is a village in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. It was formed through the 2023 New Brunswick local governance reforms which merged the village of Norton and all or part of five local service districts to form Valley Waters, a village municipality. Geography Valley Waters is situated on the Kennebecasis River 55 kilometres northeast of Saint John. The European and North American Railway began serving Norton in 1859. Valley Waters is home to the oldest fossil forest in Canada. Present day ''Family Frolic Days'' used to be an annual village festival. Country music singer Chris Cummings and rock musician, Ian Sherwood, of "Down With The Butterfly" and "Acres and Acres" are both natives of Valley Waters. Hanwell, New Brunswick
Hanwell is an incorporated rural community and former local service district within Kingsclear Parish in York County, New Brunswick, Canada. It is located on Route 640 immediately southwest of Fredericton. On 1 January 2023, Hanwell annexed the northern part the local service district of the parish of Kingsclear, including the communities of French Village, Island View, and Mazerolle Settlement; the annexed communities' names remain in official use. Revised census figures have not been released. History Hanwell was named by Thomas Baillie, who was born at Hanwell, West London, England. Baillie brought Irish immigrants over to settle in the area in 1825. Originally a local service district (LSD) and a farming community, two residential subdivisions were constructed in Hanwell in the 1970s. Kingsclear, New Brunswick
Kingsclear is an unincorporated rural area 20 km west of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. The area includes forests, Saint John River shoreline, agricultural land, small businesses, rural residences, and the Mactaquac Dam. Access is via the Trans-Canada Highway, and NB Routes 102, and 3. Local governance was provided by the Kingsclear Local Service District (KLSD). The KSLD did not govern the Maliseet Indian Reserve Kingsclear 6, which forms an enclave. About 2,800 people live within the area of the KLSD. Harvey, York County, New Brunswick
Harvey is a community in York County, in the Canadian province of New Brunswick, formerly an incorporated village but now part of an incorporated rural community of the same name. It is often called Harvey Station. Situated at the southeastern end of Harvey Lake, the village is approximately 35 km southwest of Fredericton. The lake was originally known as Bear Lake, then for a time as Big Cranberry Lake, and finally after 1869, as Harvey Lake, when the community that eventually would become Harvey Station was established at the intersection of the "Great Road" and the newly built railway line (see below). The area south of the village includes the Parish of Manners Sutton, which was the original Harvey Settlement founded in 1837. McAdam, New Brunswick
McAdam is a village located in the southwestern corner of York County, New Brunswick, Canada. The village covers and had a population of 1,151 as of 2016. An independent study was executed early 2018, and the results found that the population of McAdam had grown to 1,225. Turning the tide of a shrinking population, this is the first time the community's population grew since 1956. The area was first settled in the mid-to-late 19th century as a group of small lumber camps. The area further developed due to its advantageous location as an important railway junction between the main line of the Canadian Pacific Railway from the Maritime provinces to New England and central Canada and branch lines to St. Stephen, St. Andrews and Woodstock. Grand Bay-Westfield is a town in New Brunswick, Canada, on the west bank of the Saint John River immediately north of the boundary between Kings County and Saint John County. Name The town's hyphenated name is the product of a series of amalgamations since 1966. The Parish, and later the village, of Westfield was named in honour of either Westfield, Massachusetts, or Westfield, New Jersey, by the Loyalists.
