Saint-Marc
Saint-Marc ( ht, Sen Mak) is a commune in western Haiti in Artibonite departement. Its geographic coordinates are . At the 2003 Census the commune had 160,181 inhabitants. It is one of the biggest cities, second to Gonaïves, between Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haïtien. Before the settlement of the French, the region was known as Amani-y ad part of the Xaragua caciquat. The port of Saint-Marc is currently the preferred port of entry for consumer goods coming into Haiti. Reasons for this may include its location away from volatile and congested Port-au-Prince as well as its central location relative to a large group of Haitian cities including Cap-Haïtien, Carrefour, Delmas, Fort-Liberté, Gonaïves, Hinche, Limbe, Pétion-Ville, Port-de-Paix, and Verrettes. These cities, together with their surrounding areas, contain nearly eight million of Haiti's ten million people (2009). Saint-Marc-sur-Mer is a seaside resort in France, situated in the commune of Saint-Nazaire (principal place of the arrondissement of Saint-Nazaire, in the department of Loire-Atlantique, region of Pays de la Loire). It is located to the west of the center of the town of Saint-Nazaire, of which it is a district. Originally named Crépelet, at the end of the 19th century it was given the name of the saint to whom its chapel was dedicated. The birthplace of "Monsieur Hulot" From the summer to autumn of 1951, the town's beach was the filming location for the exterior scenes of Jacques Tati's comedic film ''Monsieur Hulot's Holiday''. Tati spent weeks searching for a suitable location, and upon discovering Saint-Marc wrote that it was "the little corner I have been dreaming of". Saint-Marc-des-Carrières is a town in Quebec, Canada, part of Portneuf Regional County Municipality in the Capitale-Nationale region. The place has earned the title of Rock Capital of Portneuf County because of its rock quarries that have played a significant role in the local economy. Even its name makes reference to these quarries (''carrière'' means "quarry"). History Since the early 19th century, the area has been known for its quarries of Trenton Limestone, that was used for many construction projects in that time period. The village, first known as Poiré, got its post office in 1863. By 1901, the place was called Châteauvert, in honour of Georges Châteauvert, who was postmaster, owner of the rock quarries, and first mayor from 1901 to 1903. That same year, the Parish of Saint-Marc-des-Carrières was formed by separating from Saint-Alban, Grondines, and Saint-Joseph-de-Deschambault. A year later, it became a civil parish. Saint-Marc-Jaumegarde (; Provençal: ''Sant Marc de Jaumegarda'') is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in southern France. Location It is located 6 kilometres away from Aix-en-Provence and Vauvenargues, Bouches-du-Rhône, and 3 kilometres away from Le Tholonet, near the Montagne Sainte-Victoire. The commune includes Bonfillons, Roussillier, Plan de l'Orgue, Savoyards, and Bourg. There are two man-made lakes, namely Bimont and Zola, and the streamlet, Prignon. History In 1239, the land was given to the Lord of Esparon by Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Provence.
