Saint-Laurent—Cartierville
Saint-Laurent (, known from 1993 to 2015 as Saint-Laurent—Cartierville, ) is a federal electoral district in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, which has been represented in the House of Commons since 1988. Since a 2017 by-election triggered by the resignation of longtime Member of Parliament (MP) Stéphane Dion, its MP has been Emmanuella Lambropoulos of the Liberal Party. Geography The district used to correspond exactly to the borough of Saint-Laurent in the city of Montreal. However, due to the 2023 redistribution, it now goes all the way up to the south of Acadie boulevard, in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough. The neighbouring ridings are Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Dorval—Lachine—LaSalle, Mount Royal and Pierrefonds—Dollard. Ahuntsic-Cartierville is a federal electoral district (Canada), electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2015. Pierrefonds—Dollard () is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1988. Its population was 108,587 at the 2016 Canadian Census. This riding occupies the northwest part of the Island of Montreal on Lac des Deux-Montagnes and Rivière des Prairies. It contains the cities of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Pierrefonds, Roxboro and L'Île-Bizard. This riding is home to a number of pharmaceutical companies. Manufacturing is the main industry, followed by retail trade. Over 17% of the population has a university degree, while just over 4% has less than a Grade 9 education. Mount Royal (, ) is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1925. Its population in 2006 was 98,888. The riding is among the strongest Liberal ridings in the country. Réal Caouette, long-time leader of the Social Credit Party in Quebec, once said that a mailbox could win the Liberal nomination in Mount Royal and still win election just because it was red (the traditional colour of the Liberal Party). The federal electoral redistribution of 2012 was a redistribution of electoral districts ("ridings") in Canada following the results of the 2011 Canadian census. As a result of amendments to the Constitution Act, 1867, the number of seats in the House of Commons of Canada increased from 308 to 338. The previous electoral redistribution was in 2003. Background and previous attempts at reform Prior to 2012, the redistribution rules for increasing the number of seats in the House of Commons of Canada was governed by section 51 of the ''Constitution Act, 1867'', as last amended in 1985. Laval Centre (; formerly known as Laval-des-Rapides) was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1979 to 2004. It was created as "Laval-des-Rapides" riding in 1976 from parts of Laval, Ahuntsic, Dollard and Duvernay ridings. It was renamed "Laval Centre" in 1990.
