Sailing At The 2016 Summer Olympics – 49er FX
The Women's 49er FX was a sailing event on the Sailing at the 2016 Summer Olympics program in Rio de Janeiro and took place from 12 to 18 August at Marina da Glória. Thirteen races (the last one a medal race) were held. The medals were presented by Barbara Kendall, International Olympic Committee, IOC List of members of the International Olympic Committee, member, New Zealand and Carlo Croce (sailor), Carlo Croce, President of World Sailing. Marina da Glória is a marina located in the neighbourhood of Glória (Rio de Janeiro), Glória in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This venue hosted the sailing events for the 2016 Summer Olympics within the Flamengo Park cluster, from 7 to 19 August 2016. and the 2016 Summer Paralympics. Francesca Clapcich
Francesca Clapcich (born 28 January 1988 in Trieste) is an Italian professional sailor, with World, European, and National Championship titles to her name. She is the only Italian to win The Ocean Race, the round the world yacht race. She has competed twice at the Olympic Games, first time in the 2012 Summer Olympics, competing in the Women's Laser Radial class, finishing in 19th place. At the 2016 Olympics, she competed in the women's 49erFX class with Giulia Conti, finishing in 5th place. With Giulia Conti in 2015 they won the Italian, European and World Championships in the 49erFX Class. Maia Kristiane Agerup (born 22 June 1995) is a Norwegian Olympic sailor who represents the New York Yacht Club in New York, NY and Royal Norwegian Yacht Club in Oslo. Together with her twin sister Ragna Agerup she sailed the Olympic class boat 49er FX competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics. In June 2016 the team was ranked 15th on the ISAF World Ranking. Saskia Tidey (born 11 June 1993 in Dublin, Ireland) is a sailor who has represented both Ireland and Great Britain in international sailing regattas. Tidey represented Ireland at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the 49er FX class. In January 2017, Tidey confirmed that she hoped to represent Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics due to the retirement of sailing partner Andrea Brewster and the unavailability of another suitable partner in Ireland for the 49er FX skiff event.
