Said Alzebda
Said A. Alzebda (died 2023) was a Palestinian electrical engineer and academic. He was president of the University College of Applied Sciences until his death in Israeli airstrikes on 31 December 2023. Early life and education Born in the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City, Gaza Strip, Palestine, Said Anwar Al Zebda studied telecommunications engineering, then obtained his master's and doctorate degrees in electronic communications and computer engineering from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. Career After graduating from the University College of Applied Sciences in Gaza, Said Al-Zebda was appointed as head of the developmental programs, then head of the Yukas Technology Incubator, and then assistant to the college president for developmental affairs, before the college's board of trustees announced his appointment as the new president of the University College of Applied Sciences, succeeding Rifat Naim Rustam. Islamic University Of Gaza
The Islamic University of Gaza (), also known as IUG and IU Gaza, is an independent Palestinian university established in 1978 in Gaza City. It was the first higher education institution to be established in the Gaza Strip. The university has 11 faculties capable of awarding BA, BSc, MA, MSc, MD, PhD, diplomas and higher diplomas, in addition to 20 research centers and institutes and the affiliated Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital. International Middle East Media Center
The International Middle East Media Center (IMEMC) is an independent news organization run by Palestinians living in the State of Palestine, working together with international journalists, who report on events in both Israel and the State of Palestine. The IMEMC is published in English, whilst briefly providing Spanish coverage in 2008, supported by volunteers, though this was stopped due to lack of funding. Jabalia
Jabalia, also spelled Jabalya (), is a city in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, located north of Gaza City, in the North Gaza Governorate of the Gaza Strip. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, Jabalia had a population of 172,704 in 2017. The Jabalia refugee camp is adjacent to the city to the north. The nearby town of Nazla is a part of the Jabalia municipality. Archaeology A large cemetery dating to the 8th century CE was found near Jabalia. The workmanship indicates that the Christian community in Gaza was still very much in existence in the early Islamic era of rule in Palestine, and capable of artistic achievements. North Gaza Governorate
The North Gaza Governorate () is a governorate of Palestine in the Gaza Strip, which is administered by Hamas. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the governorate had a population of 270,245 (7.2% of the Palestinian population) with 40,262 households in mid-year 2007 encompassing three municipalities, two rural districts and one refugee camp. al-Faluja () was a Palestinian Arab village in the British Mandate for Palestine, located 30 kilometers northeast of Gaza City.
