Sai Ying Pun (novel)
''Sai Ying Pun'' () is a Hong Kong horror fantasy novel written by web novelist Echo of Heart in 2016. The novel was inspired by the postponement in service of the newly built MTR Sai Ying Pun Station and urban legends of the neighboring Whitty Station and Rumsey Station. The novel received widespread acclaim and won the annual ''Hong Kong Book Awards'' in humanities category. A film adaptation was announced in 2016, but the project was cancelled in 2020. Synopsis Ah Wang is a railway security guard stationed at the newly built Sai Ying Pun Station. Shortly after the station's opening, Wang is attacked and knocked out by a mysterious beast while he is on patrol. He wakes up in a hospital, with a man named Ga Yin warns him not to return to the Station in the meantime. However, two weeks later, Wang is forced to take the Island line and mysteriously blacks out on the train. He regains consciousness and finds himself trapped on the train with four others. The Commercial Press () is the first modern publishing organisation in China. History In 1897, 26-year-old Xia Ruifang and three of his friends (including the Bao brothers Bao Xian'en and Bao Xianchang) founded The Commercial Press in Shanghai. All four were Protestant Christians who received their training at the American Presbyterian Mission Press. The group soon received financial backing and began publishing books such as Bibles. Sheung Wan is an area in Hong Kong, located in the north-west of Hong Kong Island, between Central and Sai Ying Pun. Administratively, it is part of the Central and Western District. The name can be variously interpreted as ''Upper District'' (occupying relatively high ground compared to Central and Wan Chai), or ''Gateway District'' (perhaps a reference to the location where the British first entered and occupied Hong Kong).
