Sahota (also known as Sihota or Sahotey) is a Jat clan native to the Punjab and hilly regions of India and Pakistan. as well as Jalandhar district of Punjab. During the early 16th century, in the southern region of Doaba, five brothers from the Sahota clan founded and established the village Kuleta (presently known as Bara Pind) alongside villages such as Dhuleta, Rurka Khurd, and Atta. Sahotas were a U.K. based Bhangra/ Rock/World music band. The band, started in Bilston, Wolverhampton in the mid-1980s, had a line-up of five brothers. They have released music in both English and Punjabi. The lead singer was Surj Sahota, and the music director/producer was Mukhtar Sahota. The band's music is very different from conventional Punjabi music, combining the Bhangra genre with pop, house, reggae and rock, focusing on vocal styles and sounds. This transfusion occurred during the apex of Bhangra Music in the 1980s and 1990s when there was an abundance of Live British Asian Music across the United Kingdom; and when British Asian Music sought to be recognised by the mainstream music industry. Atta, Jalandhar
Atta is a village in Phillaur tehsil of Jalandhar District of Punjab State, India. It is situated on national highway 1 and located 2.2 km away from Goraya, 18 km from Phillaur, 45.8 km from Jalandhar, and 112 km from state capital Chandigarh. Doaba, also known as Bist Doab or the Jalandhar Doab, is the region of Punjab, India that lies between the Beas River and the Sutlej River. People of this region are given the demonym "Doabia". The dialect of Punjabi spoken in Doaba is called "Doabi". Sutradhar () is a Bengali caste within the Vishwakarma community of West Bengal and Bangladesh. Their traditional occupation is carpentry. The great majority of Hindu Sutradhars belong to the Vaishnava sect. Vishwakarma is regarded as their patron deity. Origin The word ''Sutradhar'' literally means ''formula/thread-holder''.
