Sahabi Alhaji Yaú
Sahabi Alhaji Yaú (born 16 July 1956) is a Nigerian politician who was elected Senator in 2007 on the platform of All Nigeria Peoples Party to represent Zamfara North Senetorial District of Zamfara State. Political career Yaú was elected to the senate on the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) slate for the Zamfara North Senatorial District in 2007. He was appointed to committees on Downstream Petroleum, Inter-Parliamentary Affairs, Public Accounts and States & Local Government. After the state governor Alhaji Mamuda Aliyu Shinkafi transferred his allegiance from the ANPP to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ya'u made it clear that he retained loyalty to Shinkafi, although he still remains technically a member of the ANPP. The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) was a political party in Nigeria. The ANPP was a household party in the extreme north of Nigeria, primarily due to its mass appeal among more religious voters. It was the strongest opposition party, controlling seven of the nation's thirty-six states at one point. The party's biggest achievement in the 2003 election was its gubernatorial victory in Kano State where it defeated the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) to take control of one of the country's most populous states. Following the 2007 election, the ANPP challenged the victory of Umaru Yar'Adua, although it was announced on 27 June 2007 following talks, that the ANPP had agreed to join Yar'Adua's government of national unity. Umaru Musa Yar'Adua (; 16 August 19515 May 2010) was a Nigerian politician who served as the president of Nigeria from 2007 until his death in May 2010. He won the Nigerian presidential election held on 21 April 2007, and was sworn in on 29 May 2007. He had previously served as the governor of Katsina State from 1999 to 2007; and was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
