Saguenay, Quebec
Saguenay ( , , ) is a city in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec, Canada, on the Saguenay River, about north of Quebec City by overland route. It is about upriver and northwest of Tadoussac, located at the confluence with the St. Lawrence River. It was formed in 2002 by merging the cities of Chicoutimi and Jonquière and the town of La Baie, Quebec, La Baie. Chicoutimi was founded by French colonists in 1676. As of July 2021, the city had a population of 148,000 and the metropolitan area had a population of 170,000. The city of Saguenay constitutes a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE); its geographical code is 941. Together with the regional county municipality of Le Fjord-du-Saguenay Regional County Municipality, Le Fjord-du-Saguenay, it forms the Census geographic units of Canada, census division (CD) of Le Saguenay-et-son-Fjord (94). Jonquière (federal Electoral District)
Jonquière () is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1979 to 2004 and again from the 2015 election onward. This riding was created in 1976 from parts of Lapointe and Montmorency ridings. It was abolished in 2003 when it was redistributed into Jonquière—Alma and Chicoutimi—Le Fjord ridings. It was re-created during the 2012 electoral redistribution from parts of Jonquière—Alma, Chicoutimi—Le Fjord and Roberval—Lac-Saint-Jean. Larouche () is a municipality in Quebec, Canada, part of Le Fjord-du-Saguenay Regional County Municipality. It is located along Quebec Route 170 between Saguenay and Saint-Bruno, just south of the Saguenay River. History In the early 1910s, several families settled in the area. The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canada, Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census.
