Safina Saima Khar is a Pakistani politician who served as a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from 2008 to 2013 on the reserved seat for women on the ticket of Pakistan Peoples Party. Safina (political Party)
Safina ( in Swahili) is a political party in Kenya, founded by palaeoanthropologist and conservationist Richard Leakey together with lawyer Paul Muite. History In May 1995, Richard Leakey joined some Kenyan intellectuals in launching a new political party. The Safina party was routinely harassed and even its application to become an official political party was not approved until 1997. That year, international donor institutions froze their aid to Kenya because of widespread corruption. To placate the donors, Daniel arap Moi appointed Leakey as Cabinet Secretary and head of the civil service in 1999. Leakey's second stint in the civil service lasted two years. He lost the cabinet post in 2001. Politics In the legislative elections on 27 December 2007, the party won five out of 210 elected seats. 88 Aquarii (abbreviated 88 Aqr), also named Safina, is a star in the equatorial constellation of Aquarius. ''88 Aquarii'' is the Flamsteed designation, though it also bears the Bayer designation c2 Aquarii. In dark conditions it is visible to the naked eye with an apparent visual magnitude of +3.68. Based upon parallax measurements, this star is at a distance of around from Earth. The spectrum of 88 Aquarii matches an evolved giant star with a classification of K1 III. Its measured angular diameter is , which, at the estimated distance, yields a physical size of about 29 times the radius of the Sun. The cool, orange hued glow of this star comes from the outer atmosphere's effective temperature of 4,430 K. The Safina Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit nature conservation and environmental organization headquartered in Setauket, New York as part of Stony Brook University. It was founded in 2003 as the Blue Ocean Institute and later renamed in honor of the founder, Carl Safina. ''Safīna-yi Tabrīz'' (, " heVessel of Tabriz" or " heTreasury of Tabriz") is an important encyclopedic manuscript from 14th century Ilkhanid Iran compiled by Abu'l Majd Muhammad ibn Mas'ud Tabrizi between 1321 and 1323. "Safina" (, ) is an Arabic word meaning "vessel". In term of manuscripts, it denotes a special form of a book whose cover is elongated. Thus when the book is opened, it resembles a long vessel. In Persian use, 'safineh' is a synonym for 'jong' () which means a collection of essays or poems. Discovery and scope Based on the manuscript, the book has been published in facsimile by Tehran University Press. As it constitutes a rare Islamic manuscript that has recently been discovered, it has generated a great deal of interest among Islamic, Iranian and Middle Eastern scholars. She has represented Kenya at several international squash competitions including the 2010 Commonwealth Games and 2014 Commonwealth Games.
