Sadyattes Chani
''Phobaeticus chani'' or Chan's megastick, also known by its synonym ''Sadyattes chani'', is a species of stick insect in the tribe Pharnaciini. It is one of the longest insects in the world and was once considered the record-holder (it is currently held by an unnamed species of ''Phryganistria'' discovered in 2016). One specimen held in the Natural History Museum in London measures . This measurement is, however, with the front legs fully extended. The body alone still measures an impressive . It is named after amateur Malaysian naturalist Datuk Chan Chew Lun. ''Phobaeticus chani'' was selected as one of "The Top 10 New Species" described in 2008 by the International Institute for Species Exploration at Arizona State University and an international committee of taxonomists. The Phasmatodea (also known as Phasmida, Phasmatoptera or Spectra) are an order of insects whose members are variously known as stick insects, stick-bugs, walking sticks, stick animals, or bug sticks. They are also occasionally referred to as Devil's darning needles, although this name is shared by both dragonflies and crane flies. They can be generally referred to as phasmatodeans, phasmids, or ghost insects, with phasmids in the family Phylliidae called leaf insects, leaf-bugs, walking leaves, or bug leaves. The group's name is derived from the Ancient Greek ', meaning an apparition or phantom, referring to their resemblance to vegetation while in fact being animals. In biology, a tribe is a taxonomic rank above genus, but below family (biology), family and subfamily. It is sometimes subdivided into subtribes. Sumatra
Sumatra is one of the Sunda Islands of western Indonesia.
