''Sadleria'' is a genus of six species of ferns in the family Blechnaceae, all endemism, endemic to Hawaii.Fern pages''Sadleria''/ref> Taxonomy Georg Friedrich Kaulfuss distinguished the genus in 1824 based on samples of ''S. cyatheoides'' acquired by Adelbert von Chamisso in 1821. Chamisso had been serving as the naturalist for a Imperial Russian Navy, Russian scientific expedition led by Otto von Kotzebue aboard the vessel ''Rurick''. Kaulfuss named the genus after József_Sadler, Joseph Sadler (1791–1849), a Kingdom of Hungary, Hungarian naturalist who studied European ferns. Georg Friedrich Kaulfuss
Georg Friedrich Kaulfuss (8 April 1786 – 9 December 1830) was a professor at Halle. He described the pteridophytes collected by Adelbert von Chamisso, and he named the fern ''Cibotium chamissoi'' after him. The genus '' Kaulfussia'' is named for Kaulfuss. In 1816, he obtained his doctorate from the University of Halle, where in 1823, he became a full professor of botany. Fern
The ferns (Polypodiopsida or Polypodiophyta) are a group of vascular plants (plants with xylem and phloem) that reproduce via spores and have neither seeds nor flowers. They differ from mosses by being vascular, i.e., having specialized tissues that conduct water and nutrients, and in having life cycles in which the branched sporophyte is the dominant phase. József Sadler
József Sadler (6 May 1791 – 12 March 1849) was a Hungarian physician and botanist. He studied the plants of the Budapest region, and served as a curator of natural history at the Hungarian National Museum. As a professor of botany at the medical school in the University of Pest, he influenced numerous Hungarian naturalists. Sadler was born in Pozsony in a family of modest means. After completing high school studies, Sadler became a pharmacist's assistant at the pharmacy of the Order of Mercy. He completed a pharmacy course at the University of Pest and received a master's degree in 1810. He also studied philosophy from 1810 to 1914 and medicine at Pest from 1812 to 1819. Sadler became an assistant to Károly Konstantin Haberle. He became a doctor of medicine in 1820. He was also made assistant keeper of the natural history collection at the National Museum.
