Atmosphere is an American hip-hop duo from Minneapolis, Minnesota, consisting of rapper Slug (Sean Daley) and DJ/ producer Ant (Anthony Davis). Since its formation in 1996, the group has released thirteen studio albums and ten extended plays. Members The duo is composed of rapper Slug (Sean Daley) and DJ/ producer Ant (Anthony Davis). With the exception of a few tracks on the album '' Lucy Ford'', Ant has produced every Atmosphere record. A former member and co-founder Spawn (Derek Turner) left the group after the release of the group's first album ''Overcast!''. Mr. Dibbs, a DJ associated with the group, toured with Atmosphere before their ''You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having'' tour, at which point Ant began touring. History Before ''Overcast!'' It was released on Atmosphere's own Rhymesayers Entertainment label on April 22, 2008. It was praised for Ant's synthesizer-based production and Slug's storytelling rap. The album features a cameo performance by singer-songwriter Tom Waits, who performs guitar and beatboxing on the song "The Waitress". It was released on Rhymesayers Entertainment Rhymesayers Entertainment (sometimes abbreviated RSE) is an American independent hip-hop record label based in Minneapolis. History Rhymesayers Entertainment was co-founded in 1995 by Sean Daley (Slug), Anthony Davis (Ant), Musab Saad ( Sab th ... in 2000. It is the second installment of the ''Ford'' EP series, the first being '' Ford One''. The two were later collected on the 2001 compilation '' Lucy Ford: The Atmosphere EP's''. Some of the sessions were produced at the home studio of Jason Heinrichs, also known as Anomaly. In an obituary for Heinrichs in 2002, Slug described the recordings: "It was the first time we’d seen anyone use a computer and grid to record and sequence music. ''Overcast!'' is the debut studio album by Minneapolis hip hop group Atmosphere, released on August 5, 1997, on Rhymesayers Entertainment. It is the only Atmosphere album to feature MC Spawn trading verses with Slug. Before the album's release, Spawn left the group due to conflicting motives. Development The cover art is inspired by that of '' Judgment!'', released in 1964 by jazz pianist Andrew Hill. The album contains several tracks featured on ''Overcast!'' Whenever is the tenth studio album by American hip hop duo Atmosphere. It was surprise released via Rhymesayers Entertainment on December 13, 2019. On November 8, 2019, the first single, "Bde Maka Ska", was released. ''Mi Vida Local'' is the ninth studio album by American hip hop group Atmosphere. It was released on October 5, 2018 by Rhymesayers Entertainment, and was supported by the lead single "Virgo", as well as an accompanying 35-date album tour with supporting acts Lioness and Dem Atlas, who are featured on the track "Drown". The second single "Jerome" was debuted the same date as the album. The album reflects on middle-aged life and features live instrumentation and 808 beats.
