Sacred Underworld
''Sacred'' is a 2004 action role-playing game developed by the German company Ascaron and published by Take 2 Interactive. It is set on the magical continent of Ancaria, with characters of various races (dark elf, vampiress, dwarf, etc.) each with their own missions. Two expansion packs were released for the game in 2004 and 2005. In 2008, Linux Game Publishing announced that they would port the game to the Linux operating system. ''Sacred'' was a commercial hit, with sales above 2 million units worldwide by 2009. It spawned the ''Sacred'' video game franchise, and was followed by the sequels '' Sacred 2: Fallen Angel'', '' Sacred Citadel'', and '' Sacred 3''. Gameplay Characters Upon beginning the game, players are given a choice to start with one of six different character types: Gladiator, Dark Elf, Wood Elf, Vampiress, Battle-Mage and Seraphim. Ascaron
Ascaron Entertainment was a video game developer based in Germany. Founded as Ascon by Holger Flöttmann in 1991 and later renamed in October 1996 due to the possible confusion with the Swiss company Ascom (company), Ascom AG, the company produced titles primarily for the PC until it became insolvent in 2009. Background and history Ascaron had its headquarters in Gütersloh, a town in western Germany. It had a development studio in Aachen and an international office in Birmingham in the United Kingdom. Ascaron had a particular focus on strategy and management games.
