Kevin Michael McCarty (born January 6, 1972) is an American politician who has served as Mayor of Sacramento since 2024. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2024, representing the 6th Assembly District, which encompasses a portion of the Sacramento metropolitan area and most of the city of Sacramento. McCarty was a member of the California Legislative Black Caucus. Prior to being elected to the Assembly in 2014, he served on the Sacramento City Council representing the 6th district, which includes part of the eastern and southeastern parts of the city.
