Sachkhere Municipality
Sachkhere ( ka, საჩხერის მუნიციპალიტეტი, tr) is a district of Georgia, in the region of Imereti. Its main town is Sachkhere. From the north, the municipality of Sachkhere is boarded by Oni and Ambrolauri Municipality, from the east – java and Kareli, from south – Khashuri and Kharagauli and from the west by Chiatura Municipality. A municipality is a subdivision of Georgia, consisting of a settlement or community (თემი ''temi''), which enjoy local self-government. A total of 69 municipalities are registered as of January 2019. Five municipalities are entirely located in breakaway Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and are effectively not governed by Tbilisi. The remaining 64 are divided over five self-governing cities (ქალაქი ''kalaki'') and 59 self-governing communities. Background The municipalities were first established in 2006. Most of them were successors to the earlier subdivisions, known as '' raioni'' (რაიონი), 'districts'. Kareli District
Kareli ( ka, ქარელის მუნიციპალიტეტი, tr) is a district of Georgia, in the region of Shida Kartli. Some northern territories of the district are part of the self-proclaimed republic of South Ossetia and have not been under control of the Georgian government since 1992. Located in the central part of Georgia on the Shida Kartli plain. The municipality is bordered on the east by Gori, on the west by Khashuri, and on the south by Borjomi. Kharagauli
Kharagauli ( ka, ხარაგაული ) is an administrative center of Kharagauli district in Georgia. It is situated on both banks of river in a narrow and deep gorge, 280-400m above the sea level. Founding It was founded as a railway station in the 1870s, when the Poti-Tbilisi railway was built. Kharagauli assumed an administrative, later an economic, function. Geography In the west entrance of the area, the Chkherimela river flows through a narrow gorge. On the left bank of the river, there are two statues of giants; on the right, two large holes. This area, referred to as "the giant's hole" serves as a minor tourist attraction. The riverbank also has a large park. Khashuri
Khashuri ( ka, ხაშური ) is a city in the central part of Georgia and is the 9th largest settlement in Georgia. It is the administrative centre of Khashuri Municipality. It is located on the Shida Kartli plain, on the Suramula riverside, above sea level. Khashuri is first mentioned in a 1693 document. Modern Khashuri was founded in 1872 as a modest railway stop called "Mikhaylovo" after Grand Duke Michael Nikolaevich of Russia, Viceroy of the Caucasus. In 1917, it was renamed Khashuri. The city was granted city status in 1921. It was known as Stalinisi, after Joseph Stalin, from 1928 to 1934. The Ambrolauri Municipality ( ka, ამბროლაურის მუნიციპალიტეტი, tr) is a Municipalities of Georgia (country), self-governing subdivision in western Georgia (country), Georgia.
