Saaremaa Shipping Company
Saaremaa Shipping Company ( et, Saaremaa Laevakompanii, SLK) was a company which served the main sea routes between the Estonian mainland and its two major islands, Saaremaa and Hiiumaa. Since 1 October 2016 these routes have been operated by TS Laevad. SLK was declared bankrupt in November 2018. SLK's three sister ships "Saaremaa", "Hiiumaa" and "Muhumaa" were sold to Elb-Link in Germany. They were sold again in 2018 to service routes in eastern Canada. Kuressaare
Kuressaare () is a town on Saaremaa island in Estonia. It is the administrative centre of Saaremaa Parish and the capital of Saare County. Kuressaare is the westernmost town in Estonia. The recorded population on 1 January 2018 was 13,276. The town is situated on the southern coast of Saaremaa island, facing the Gulf of Riga of the Baltic Sea, and is served by the Kuressaare Airport, Roomassaare harbour, and Kuressaare yacht harbour. Names Kuressaare's historic name Arensburg (from Middle High German ''a(a)r:'' eagle, raptor) renders the Latin denotation ''arx aquilae'' for the city's castle. Vyacheslav Leedo (; born 1952) is an Estonian entrepreneur. He was born in Kuressaare. In 1991, he bought three cargo ships. Since 1995, he is the key figure of ship transportation related to Saaremaa and Hiiumaa. He is the owner of Saaremaa Shipping Company. West Estonian archipelago ( et, Lääne-Eesti saarestik, also Moonsund archipelago) is a group of Estonian islands located in the Baltic Sea around Väinameri. The total area is about . The archipelago is composed of the islands Saaremaa, Hiiumaa, Muhu, Vormsi and about 900 other smaller islands. Saaremaa is the largest island in Estonia, measuring . The main island of Saare County, it is located in the Baltic Sea, south of Hiiumaa island and west of Muhu island, and belongs to the West Estonian Archipelago. Hiiumaa (, ) is the second largest island in Estonia and is part of the West Estonian archipelago, in the Baltic Sea. It has an area of 989 km2 and is 22 km from the Estonian mainland. TS Laevad
''TS Laevad'' ("TS Ships") is an Estonian ferry company which operates two routes between the Estonian mainland and the islands of Hiiumaa and Muhu in the Baltic Sea. (Muhu is connected by a causeway to Estonia's largest island, Saaremaa). The company is a fully owned subsidiary of the Port of Tallinn, which is in turn majority-owned by the Estonian state. The state subsidises the ferry routes with a sum of over €20 million per annum.
