Sa Đéc
Sa Đéc is a Provincial city (Vietnam), Provincial city in Đồng Tháp Province in the Mekong Delta of southern Vietnam. It is a river port and agricultural and industrial trading center. The Sa Đéc economic zone consists of Châu Thành District, Đồng Tháp, Châu Thành, Lai Vung and Lấp Vò districts. As of January 2018, the city has a population of approximately 202,046. There are three industrial zones, designated by the codes A, C1, and C. They attract many business people from the Mekong Delta region. History During the Republic of Vietnam, it was the site of Sa Đéc Base in 1966 and 1967, an American PBR (Patrol Boat, River) base during the Vietnam War. Later on, it became a Swift Boat base. A provincial city () is a type of list of district-level subdivisions in Vietnam, second-level subdivision of Vietnam. Sa Đéc Base (also known as Sa Đéc Naval Support Activity or simply Sa Đéc) is a former U.S. Navy and Republic of Vietnam Navy (RVNN) base near Sa Đéc in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. Marguerite Germaine Marie Donnadieu (, 4 April 1914 – 3 March 1996), known as Marguerite Duras (), was a French novelist, playwright, screenwriter, essayist, and experimental filmmaker. Patrol Boat, River, or PBR, is the United States Navy designation for a small rigid- hulled patrol boat used in the Vietnam War from March 1966 until 1975. They were deployed in a force that grew to 250 boats, the most common craft in the River Patrol Force, Task Force 116, and were used to stop and search river traffic in areas such as the Mekong Delta, the Rung Sat Special Zone, the Saigon River and in I Corps, in the area assigned to Task Force Clearwater, in an attempt to disrupt weapons shipments.
