SUNY Niagara
SUNY Niagara (formerly Niagara County Community College, or NCCC) is a public community college in Sanborn, New York. Founded in 1962, SUNY Niagara is sponsored by Niagara County and offers associate degrees as part of the State University of New York system. Dual admissions programs facilitate transfer to four-year colleges upon completion of the two-year degree programs. SUNY Niagara operates the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute as a remote campus within the former Rainbow Centre Factory Outlet in downtown Niagara Falls, New York. Sean Jamieson
Sean Robert Jamieson (born March 2, 1989) is a Canadian former professional baseball infielder. Career Jamieson attended Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School in Simcoe, Ontario and then Niagara County Community College where he maintained a 3.98 grade point average and won a NJCAA Division III Gold Glove award in 2009. After two years at NCCC, Jamieson accepted a full scholarship offer to play at Canisius over competing offers from South Florida and Pittsburgh. Jamieson was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Year as well as the MAAC Male Student-Athlete of the Year and was also selected for the Capital One Academic All-America Second-Team in 2011. Richard Jacob
Richard L. Jacob (born September 24, 1958, in Niagara Falls, New York), is an American basketball coach and educator. He is head coach of the Buffalo eXtreme of the American Basketball Association, and also sport management consultant for Villa Maria College. Jacob won an NEAC championship at the collegiate level, and has been awarded Coach of the Year honors by both NEAC and NJCAA. For his work at Medaille College, he was named NSCAA Athletic Director of the Year. At the high school level he captured the New York State Class A championship, multiple CHSAA championships, and was awarded Centercourt Coach of the Year. Rick Hockenos
Richard Hockenos is an American former basketball player and coach. After being drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the 1974 NBA draft he went on to play professionally in Europe. Early life Hockenos attended Bishop Duffy High School in Niagara Falls, New York. Between his sophomore and junior years he had a hip operation as he was growing to fast and the bones in his hip separated. After mediocre senior season, he was not recruited by any colleges and rejected by the schools he applied to due to academic reasons. He finally enrolled at Niagara Community College in 1969. After having a successful second season with NCCC basketball team, he decided to spend his last two seasons with Gannon College. Eric Gansworth
Eric Gansworth (born 1965) is a Haudenosaunee novelist, poet and visual artist from New York. He is a citizen of the Onondaga Nation and Tuscarora descendant. Early life Gansworth was born in 1965 and is an enrolled citizen of the Onondaga Nation, belonging to the Eel Clan. He grew up in the Tuscarora Nation as a descendant of one of two Onondaga women present among the Tuscarora at the foundation of the nation in the 18th century. Gansworth originally qualified in electroencephalography, considered a profession useful to his nation; however, he went on to study literature and to continue a lifelong interest in painting and drawing. Donel Cathcart III (born July 9, 1997) is an American professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Youngstown State Penguins. Early life and high school Cathcart attended Cardinal O'Hara High School in Tonawanda, NY and graduated in 2015. He played three sports in high school: Track and field, football and basketball. NJCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship
NJCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championships is held annually in March at the Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, KS. The first official NJCAA National Championship was in 1948 in Springfield, MO at the Southwest State College Fieldhouse. The event moved to "Hutch" in 1949, and has been there ever since. The format has changed many times throughout its history, and until 2013 it was a false double-elimination tournament. Now the event is single elimination and consists of 23 games over six days. The NJCAA had only one division for Men's Basketball until the 1986–87 season when Division 2 was added. A third non-scholarship division was formed starting with the 1990 tournament. The NJCAA is divided into 24 Regions who form 16 Districts. The 16 District Champions receive automatic berths in the National Championship, and there are eight at-large bids extended.
