STCC TCR Scandinavia Touring Car Championship
The Scandinavian Touring Car Championship (STCC) is a touring car racing series based in Scandinavia. The series took over from the Danish Touringcar Championship and Swedish Touring Car Championship, with its first season in 2011. The Scandinavian Touring Car Cup was awarded in 2010 to the driver with best results from selected races in the Danish and Swedish seasons. In 2013, the series merged with the rival TTA – Racing Elite League TTA – Racing Elite League was a Swedish touring car racing series started in 2012, which was founded by four of the biggest teams from the Swedish Touring Car Championship: Polestar Racing, Flash Engineering, WestCoast Racing and Brovallen De ..., which was formed as a result of the split in 2012. Touring Car Racing
Touring car racing is a motorsport road racing competition that uses race-prepared touring cars. It has both similarities to and significant differences from stock car racing, which is popular in the United States. While the cars do not move as fast as those in Formula racing, formula or sports car racing, sports car races, their similarity both to one another and to fans' own vehicles makes for well-supported racing. The lesser use of aerodynamics means following cars have a much easier time passing than in open-wheel racing, and the more substantial bodies of the cars makes the subtle bumping and nudging for overtaking much more acceptable as part of racing. Thed Björk Bang-Melchior (born 14 December 1980) is a Sweden, Swedish racing driver, and 2017 World Touring Car Championship, World Touring Car Champion. Other notable titles include the 2006 Swedish Touring Car Championship and the 2013, 2014 and 2015 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship. He also finished second in 2005 and 2009, and third in the 2008 STCC and the 2012 TTA – Racing Elite League. Career Early career After graduating from Karting in 1997 Björk raced in the Swedish and Nordic Formula Three, Formula 3 series, taking both titles in 1999. For 2000 he went to the United States to race in the Barber Pro Series, Barber Dodge Pro Series. Björk took one pole position, lap record at Mid-Ohio and two fastest race laps. 2018 TCR Scandinavia Touring Car Championship
The 2018 TCR Scandinavia Touring Car Championship was the eighth Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season. This season was the second season since the introduction of the TCR regulations and the last under the promotion of STCC AB, which declared bankruptcy in early February 2019. The season started at Ring Knutstorp on 4 May and ended at Mantorp Park on 22 September, after six rounds. Robert Dahlgren is the defending drivers' champion, while Volkswagen Dealer Team Sweden are the defending teams' champions. PWR Racing Team
PWR Racing is a Swedish auto racing team owned by racing drivers Peter Wallenberg, Jr. and Daniel Haglöf. It currently competes in the TCR Scandinavia Touring Car Championship, the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, the World Touring Car Cup, and the FIA World Rallycross Championship. History The team was founded in 2012 by racing driver Peter "Poker" Wallenberg. The team initially entered TTA - Racing Elite League joining with Team Tidö with two cars for Linus Ohlsson and Daniel Haglöf. The 2016 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship was the sixth Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season, and the twenty-first season of touring car racing in Sweden. The 2014 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season was the fourth Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season. The season started at Ring Knutstorp on 10 May and ended on 20 September at Mantorp Park, after six double-header rounds. It was the second year of TTA – Racing Elite League silhouette regulations in the series following the merge of the STCC and TTA at the end of the 2012 season. Thed Björk entered the season as the series' defending champion. Björk won his second consecutive title, after winning three races during the season; he also achieved three pole positions which were the equivalent of three further race victories, as points were awarded on the same scale for qualifying as the races.
