SS ''Khedive Ismail'', formerly SS ''Aconcagua'', was a Steam turbine#Marine propulsion, turbine steamship that was built in 1922 as an ocean liner, converted into a Troopship, troop ship in 1940 and sunk by a Japanese submarine in 1944 with great loss of life. She was owned by the Chilean company CSAV 1922–1932, the Scottish Lord Ernest Hamilton, William Hamilton & Co (1932–35), the Kingdom of Egypt, Egyptian company KML 1935–1940 and the British Ministry of War Transport 1940–1944. ''Aconcagua'' In April 1920 the Chilean CSAV, Compañía Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV) ordered a pair of passenger and cargo liners for service between Valparaíso and Port of New York and New Jersey, New York ''via'' the Panama Canal. Aconcagua
Aconcagua () is a mountain in the Principal Cordillera of the Andes mountain range, in Mendoza Province, Argentina. It is the highest mountain in the Americas, the highest outside Asia, and the highest in both the Western Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere with a summit elevation of . It lies northwest of the provincial capital, the city of Mendoza, about from San Juan Province, and from Argentina's border with Chile. Aconcagua is one of the Seven Summits, the highest peaks on each of the seven continents.
