SSB (militia)
The SSB Civil Force (short for Sool, Sanaag, Buhoodle) () is a paramilitary clan militia that operates in the Sool, Sanaag and Togdheer regions of Somaliland. The militia was formed by and is affiliated with the Habr Je'lo clan, part of the wider Isaaq clan-family. The SSB was formed on October 2023 in Qorilugud, Togdheer region, and was formed as a regional security force, prompted by clashes between Somaliland forces and SSC-Khatumo SSC-Khaatumo (), officially known as the SSC-Khaatumo State of Somalia (), is a federal member state in northern Somalia, with its capital in Las Anod. Battle Of Erigavo
The Battle of Erigavo was an engagement between Somaliland forces and SSC-Khaatumo militants that occurred on December 14–15, 2024, in the city of Erigavo, capital of the Sanaag region in eastern Somaliland. The battle resulted in a decisive Somaliland victory, with its administration retaining control of the strategically important city. The conflict led to substantial displacement, with nearly 43,000 residents fleeing the area. Buhoodle
Buuhoodle (, ), also known as Bohotle, serves as a significant border town for the movement of goods between Khaatumo and the Somali Region of Ethiopia. The surrounding district is rich in livestock with growing agricultural activities. Territorial dispute Buuhoodle, the second most important city for the Dhulbahante after Las Anod, is currently under the control of local unionist militia. Despite efforts by the Somaliland administration, the 2021 Somaliland parliamentary and municipal elections did not take place in the city. The city is disputed by Puntland and Somaliland. Musa Bihi Abdi (, ; born 16 June 1948) is a Somaliland politician and former military officer who served as the 5th President of Somaliland from 2017 to 2024. During the 1970s, he served as a pilot in the Somali Air Force under the Siad Barre administration. In 2010, Bihi was appointed the chairman of the ruling Kulmiye party in Somaliland. In November 2015, Bihi was selected as the party's Presidential Candidate at the 5th annual central committee convention. On 21 November 2017 Muse was announced the winner of the 2017 presidential election, and officially became the President of Somaliland on 13 December 2017. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (, ; born 24 April 1956), colloquially known as Irro (), is a Somaliland politician and diplomat who has been the 6th and current President of Somaliland since 12 December 2024. Abdirahman served as speaker of the Somaliland House of Representatives during most of the first elected parliament. He was announced as the presidential nominee in the 2024 Somaliland presidential election for the Waddani Party. SSC-Khaatumo (), officially known as the SSC-Khaatumo State of Somalia (), is a federal member state in northern Somalia, with its capital in Las Anod. Qorilugud is a sizeable town in Togdheer region of Somaliland, located north by road from Buuhoodle. It is the second-largest town in Buuhoodle District after the district capital Buuhoodle. 2024 Buhodle Clashes
The 2024 Buhodle clashes took place between October 31 and November 1, 2024, in Buhodle district, near the town of Qorilugud, located in the Togdheer region of Somaliland. Boqor Osman Aw Mohamud (), more commonly known as Buurmadow is clan elder Boqor from Somaliland. Biography Mohamud was born in 1964 in El Afweyn, in the Sanaag region of Somaliland to a family of nomads, with his father being a livestock trader. He belongs to the Musa Abokor sub-division of the Habr Je'lo Isaaq. He graduated from University in 1986 where he studied law. He later joined the Somali Salvation Democratic Front, a rebel group with the goal of overthrowing Siad Barre's regime shortly after. In 1984 he subsequently joined the Somali National Movement, another rebel group with a similar goal. After the conclusion of the war and throughout the 1990s Mohamud was a business man.
