The following is a list of state routes in Nevada longer than in length that have been removed from the Nevada state highway system since 1976. Fallon is a city in Churchill County, Nevada, Churchill County in the U.S. state of Nevada. The population was 9,327 at time of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. Fallon is the county seat of Churchill County and is located in the Lahontan Valley. Fallon is known for being home to Naval Air Station Fallon, located southeast of town. History The community was first populated during the California Gold Rush, because multiple would-be Forty-niners stopped after crossing the Carson River. The town and post office were established on July 24, 1896, in a little shack belonging to Michael Fallon and Eliza Fallon, who operated a ranch at the site. Nevada State Route 140
State Route 140 (SR 140) is a two-lane state highway in Humboldt County, Nevada. It serves a sparsely populated section of the state, connecting northwestern Nevada to southern Oregon. Most of the highway was originally part of State Route 8A, and was later improved through an effort to provide an all-weather highway linking northern Nevada to the Pacific Northwest. Route description State Route 140 begins at a junction with U.S. Route 95 about north of Winnemucca in the Quinn River Valley. From this point, the highway heads west towards the sparsely populated regions of northwestern Nevada. SR 140 crosses into the Desert Valley before entering a branch of the Fort McDermitt Indian Reservation. Inside the reservation, the route crosses the Quinn River. North Las Vegas is a suburban city in Clark County, Nevada, United States, in the Las Vegas Valley. As of the 2020 census it had a population of 262,527, with an estimated population of 280,543 in 2022. The city was incorporated on May 1, 1946. State Route 159 (SR 159) is a east–west highway in Clark County, Nevada, United States, providing access to Red Rock Canyon and serving as a thoroughfare in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. Interstate 515
Interstate 515 (I-515) was a spur route of I-15 in the US state of Nevada that ran from the junction of I-15, US 93 and US 95 (the Las Vegas Spaghetti Bowl Interchange) in Downtown approximately southeast to just north of Railroad Pass in southeastern Henderson. The freeway connected traffic headed from Boulder City and Henderson to Downtown Las Vegas via a direct, high-speed route and it ran concurrently with, US 93, and US 95 along its entire length. The I-515 designation was first approved on July 12, 1976, but construction did not begin until 1982, and was constructed in stages until it reached its former terminus north of Railroad Pass in 1994, when signs of the designation finally were put up. Ely (, ) is the largest city and county seat of White Pine County, Nevada, United States. Ely was founded as a stagecoach station along the Pony Express and Central Overland Route. In 1906 copper was discovered. Ely's mining boom came later than the other towns along US 50. Ruth is a census-designated place (CDP) in White Pine County, Nevada, United States. Founded in 1903, it had a population of 440 at the 2010 census. Ruth was built as a company town for the adjacent Robinson Mine, a large open-pit copper mine, which is still in operation as of 2022. Demographics History Ruth began as a settlement for workers of the White Pine Copper Company in 1903. It derived its name from the Ruth mining claim which was named for Ruth McDonald, daughter of the original owner of the mining claim. With the opening Nevada Northern Railway in the year 1906 copper production began to boom. In 1905, Daniel C. Washoe City, Nevada
Washoe City is a ghost town in Washoe County, Nevada, in the United States. Nearby there is a new community called New Washoe City. History Old Washoe City was founded in 1860 as a lumber camp for Virginia City. With unlimited water available from Washoe Lake, mills were built for reducing ore. Dozens of trips were made daily by mule-driven ore wagons to Virginia City, hauling timber and farm produce. The return trips brought Comstock ore for milling. Water was available in the area, which allowed both quartz and saw mills to be powered. These events lead to the founding of Washoe City.
