SRSQ
SRSQ (pronounced "seer-skew") is the solo musical project of American singer and keyboardist Kennedy Ashlyn. Ashlyn started making music under the name Them Are Us Too in high school, later expanding the group to a duo after meeting Cash Askew in college. After releasing one album together, Askew died in the Ghost Ship warehouse fire in 2016. Ashlyn retired their shared name and started working as SRSQ the following year. Under the name, Ashlyn has released two albums, ''Unreality'' (2018) and ''Ever Crashing'' (2022). SRSQ's dream pop-centric sound has drawn comparisons to bands such as Cocteau Twins. Unreality (album)
''Unreality'' is the debut solo album by Kennedy Ashlyn under the alias SRSQ. The album was released on October 26, 2018, by Dais Records. The project came after Ashlyn retired Them Are Us Too, her duo with Cash Askew, after Askew died in 2016. It was preceded by one single, "The Martyr". The album was received positively by critics, who compared its ethereal dark wave sound to bands such as Cocteau Twins and called its lyrics uplifting and celebratory. Background Prior to SRSQ, Ashlyn was one half of the dream pop and dark wave duo Them Are Us Too with Cash Askew. The duo formed in 2012 and released one EP and one album together in 2015. Them Are Us Too
Them Are Us Too was an American dream pop and darkwave band, consisting of Kennedy Ashlyn and Cash Askew. The duo formed in 2012 while both were students at University of California, Santa Cruz. After signing to Dais Records, they released their debut album ''Remain''. Askew died in the Ghost Ship warehouse fire in 2016, after which Ashlyn finished their second album ''Amends'', retired the Them Are Us Too, and began releasing solo music as SRSQ. Band development Them Are Us Too (TAUT) was formed as a "solo high school bedroom noise pop project" by Kennedy Ashlyn. She had grown up listening to 1980s music, such as the B-52s, Cocteau Twins, and Dead Can Dance. At five years old, she began singing in a choir, and she also participated in musical theater. The Northwestern Pacific Railroad is a regional shortline railroad utilizing a stretch of the 271 mile mainline between Schellville and Windsor with freight and Sonoma–Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) commuter trains. Jimmy Eat World is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Mesa, Arizona. "Sweetness" is a song by American rock band Jimmy Eat World. It was released in June 2002 as the third single from their 2001 album, ''Bleed American''. It was originally written soon after the band finished recording ''Clarity'' but before the label had finally decided to release the album. However, "Lucky Denver Mint" became a surprise radio hit off of ''Clarity'' before the album was even released, driving the label to release ''Clarity'' before "Sweetness" could ever be added to its tracklisting. The band also played the song live many times during the ''Clarity'' tour, and a demo recording of it was included on the 2007 re-issue of ''Clarity''. Uniform is an American industrial metal band, formed in 2013 in New York by vocalist Michael Berdan and guitarist Ben Greenberg. The current line-up of the band features Mike Sharp on drums.
