SPTE
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is a regional transport partnership for the Strathclyde area of western Scotland. It is responsible for planning and coordinating regional transport, especially the public transport system in the area, including responsibility for operating the Glasgow Subway, the third-oldest in the world. History The principal predecessor to SPT was the Greater Glasgow Passenger Transport Executive (GGPTE) set up in 1972 to take over the Glasgow Corporation's public transport functions and to co-ordinate public transport in the Clyde Valley. In 1983 it was replaced by the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive (SPTE), under the overall direction of Strathclyde Regional Council. Passenger Transport Executive
In the United Kingdom, passenger transport executives (PTEs) are local government bodies which are responsible for public transport within large urban areas. They are accountable to combined authorities, which were created between 2011 and 2016 and took the role of integrated transport authorities (ITAs). The PTEs have joined together to form the Urban Transport Group (Passenger Transport Executive Group (PTEG) until 2016), in which Transport for London and Strathclyde Partnership for Transport also participate. East Dunbartonshire
East Dunbartonshire (; , ) is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland. It borders Glasgow City Council Area to the south, North Lanarkshire to the east, Stirling (council area), Stirling to the north, and West Dunbartonshire to the west. ZoneCard
ZoneCard is a travel card issued by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport in Scotland. Usage The scheme divides the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, Strathclyde Partnership for Transport(SPT) area into 7 regions distinguished by a number of 1-7. A Zonecard is any ITSO Ltd, Itso compatible smartcard, though SPT do offer specific Zonecard smartcards. Zonecard can be used as a Smartcards on National Rail, smartcard similar to London's Oyster card and Sydney's Opal card to tap in and out of Turnstile, ticket barriers at Glasgow Subway, subway and UK railway stations, National rail stations as well as on Bus, buses and Ferry, ferries throughout the SPT region depending on the zones Purchased.
