''Shikhara'' (IAST: '), a Sanskrit word translating literally to "mountain peak", refers to the rising tower in the Hindu temple architecture of North India, and also often used in Jain temples. A ''shikhara'' over the ''garbhagriha'' chamber where the presiding deity is enshrined is the most prominent and visible part of a Hindu temple of North India. In South India, the equivalent term is Vimana (architectural feature), ''vimana''; unlike the ''shikhara'', this refers to the whole building, including the sanctum beneath. In the south, ''shikhara'' is a term for the top stage of the vimana only, which is usually a dome capped with a finial; this article is concerned with the northern form. Guru Shikhar
Guru Shikhar, a peak in the Arbuda Mountains of Sirohi district in Rajasthan, is the highest point of the Aravalli Range, Rajasthan, and Western India. It rises to an elevation of . It is 75 km from Sirohi, Sirohi city, the district headquarter and 15 km from Mount Abu and a road from there leads almost to the top of the mountain. It is named ''Guru-Shikhara, Shikhar'' or 'the peak of the guru' after Dattatreya, an incarnation of Vishnu, and of a cave at the summit contains a temple dedicated to him, plus one dedicated his mother, Anasuya, wife of sage Atri nearby. Adjacent to the temple is the Mt Abu Observatory operated by the Physical Research Laboratory. Shikhar Dhawan (born 5 December 1985) is an Indian former cricketer. A left-handed opening batter, he was considered one of the greatest ODI batsmen for Indian cricket team for a decade and Delhi in domestic cricket. His batting average in ICC World Cups and Champion Trophies is 65.15, which is the highest among batters scoring at least 1000 runs in those tournaments. He was awarded the 'Player of the Tournament' in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy and was the leading run scorer for India at the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Dhawan made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Australia in October 2010 at Visakhapatnam. Shikhar () is a 2005 Indian Hindi-language drama film produced and directed by John Matthew Matthan. The film stars Ajay Devgn, Bipasha Basu, Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao in lead roles, while Manoj Joshi, Javed Sheikh, and Sushant Singh play other key roles.
