SER Santa Cruz
We Are Energy to Renew Santa Cruz (), better known by its short name, SER Santa Cruz (also meaning "Being Santa Cruz") is a provincial political party in the Santa Cruz Province of Argentina. It was founded in 2019 by oil workers' union leader Claudio Vidal, in opposition to then-governor of Santa Cruz, Alicia Kirchner. It is a regionalist (provincialist) and peronist party in ideology. Originally part of the Frente de Todos (FDT) coalition, ahead of the 2021 legislative election SER split in order to compete against the FDT for representation in the Argentine National Congress. It found support in the oil-producing regions of the province. Claudio Orlando Vidal (born 4 June 1980) is an Argentine trade unionist and politician currently serving as Governor of Santa Cruz Province. From 2021 to 2023, he was a National Deputy elected to represent Santa Cruz. He belongs to the local Somos Energía para Renovar Santa Cruz ( SER Santa Cruz) party. Early life and career Vidal was born in Comodoro Rivadavia, Chubut Province, but grew up in Río Gallegos, Santa Cruz Province, where he moved in his adolescence in search of job opportunities. Alicia Kirchner
Alicia Margarita Kirchner (born 18 July 1946) is an Argentine politician. She is the elder sister of the late former President Néstor Kirchner and served in his government as Minister of Social Development, a role which she held under President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, her sister-in-law, until the end of her presidential term on 9 December 2015. On 10 December 2015, she was sworn in as the governor of the Province of Santa Cruz. Biography Kirchner worked as a teacher and social worker, holding a PhD in social work. 2021 Argentine Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Argentina on 14 November 2021. Half of the seats in the Chamber of Deputies and a third of the seats in the Senate were renewed. The election had previously been scheduled to take place on 24 October 2021, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Argentina. Open, Simultaneous and Mandatory Primaries (PASO) were previously scheduled to take place on 8 August 2021, but took place on 12 September 2021, having also been postponed due to COVID-19. There were proposals, backed by the ruling Frente de Todos, to scrap the primaries altogether due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The proposals were opposed by the Juntos por el Cambio opposition.
