On 26 June 1962 a new team was created called Sociedad Recreativa Compostela, and on 28 October 1962 the newly-formed SR Compostela merged with another team, ''Club Arenal'', changing names to Sociedad Deportiva Compostela. The 1970s saw the club change levels. The team played in the Tercera División, in the Regional category and in the new Segunda División B.
