SC Prometey
BC Prometey (), also known as Prometey Slobozhanske, was a Ukrainian basketball club based in Slobozhanske and Kamianske. It played in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague, the highest tier of basketball in Ukraine, from 2019 to 2022. From 2022 to 2024, the team was based in Riga and played in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. History The team was founded as Sports Club Prometey in September 2018, by Volodymyr Dubynsky and Pavlo Chukhno. The plans were to develop a basketball and volleyball team. In 2018, Prometey joined the Ukrainian Higher League, the national second tier. On October 8, 2018, they played their first game against Zolotyi Vik, winning 86–80. Prometey went on to win the league title at the first attempt. Therefore, it was promoted to the SuperLeague for the 2019–20 season. Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague
The Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague (USL) () is the first-tier level of professional basketball league in Ukraine. Established in 1992, the league is currently contested by 10 clubs. It is a tier above the Ukrainian Higher League and allows for one team from the Higher League each season to be promoted. The league exists out of a regular season, in which team play for playoff-seeding, followed by playoffs to determine the Ukrainian champion. The Latvian-Estonian Basketball League (, ); known as Optibet Latvian-Estonian Basketball League for sponsorship reasons, is the top-tier men's basketball league in Latvia and Estonia. The competition was introduced in 2018 and is organised by the Estonian Basketball Association and the Latvian Basketball Association. The 2020–21 FIBA Europe Cup was the sixth season of the FIBA Europe Cup, a European professional basketball competition for clubs, that was launched by FIBA. Kārlis Muižnieks (born March 17, 1964, in Riga, Latvian SSR, Soviet Union) is a Latvian professional basketball coach and former player. He was most recently the head coach of Prometey Kamianske of the Ukrainian SuperLeague. Coaching career Muižnieks had solid career as player, which is followed by prolific coaching career. The 2019–20 Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague was the 2019–20 edition of the Ukrainian top-tier basketball championship. Khimik were the defending champions. This season will mark the debut season of Prometey Kamianske and Kharkivski Sokoly. On 13 March 2020, the season was ended prematurely due to the coronavirus pandemic, with Dnipro named champions and Kyiv-Basket as runner-up. Khimik Yuzhne () is a Ukrainian professional basketball club that is based in Pivdenne. The club plays in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague. In 2006, the club reached the final of the EuroCup Challenge, where they were defeated by Ural Great Perm. History The team was founded in 2001 as BC Khimik. In the first season of the club, the team immediately finished in fourth place in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague. In the 2014–15 season, Khimik won its first national championship after going undefeated in the entire season. The 2023–24 Latvian–Estonian Basketball League, known as Paf Latvian–Estonian Basketball League for sponsorship reasons, was the sixth season of the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League, the premier basketball competition for men's teams in Latvia and Estonia. Quarterfinals are still to be played in the best-of-three series, however there will be no Final Four tournament anymore. Instead, semifinals are to be played in the best-of-three format.
