SC Bel Abbès
Sporting Club de Bel-Abbès, known as SC Bel-Abbès or simply SCBA for a short, is a French Algerian defunct Association football, football club founded in 1906 in Sidi Bel Abbès. It's considered as the most successful North African club before 1962 under the French colonisation. History The club was founded in 1906 by Georges Lhermine (who became the first president of the club) and Edmond Veith in Sidi Bel Abbès. It holds the record for the most titles won in North Africa under French colonisation. The club was dissolved in 1962 after the independence of Algeria. Stadium The club played in Stade Paul André (ex. Stade des Oliviers). After 1962 the stadium was renamed Three Amarouch Brothers Stadium (Stade des Trois Frères Amarouch). It have a capacity of 7,000 places. Sidi Bel Abbès (), also called Bel Abbès, is the capital''Sidi Bel Abbes'', lexicorient.com (Encyclopaedia of the Orient), internet article. of the Sidi Bel Abbès wilaya, Algeria. It is named after Sidi bel Abbass, a Muslim marabout or noble man who is buried there. The city is the commercial center of an important area of vineyards, market gardens, orchards, and grain fields. It was formerly surrounded by a wall with four gates, and today is home to a university. Sidi Bel Abbès is 75 kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea. History The present city, on the Wadi Sig River, developed around a French camp built in 1843. In 1849 a planned agricultural town was established around the existing military post. Saïd Amara (; 11 March 1933 – 2 August 2020) was an Algerian football player and manager. Playing career Club career Born in Saïda, Amara started playing club football for Gaité Club Saida and SC Bel Abbès. In 1956, he moved to France to play for Strasbourg, Béziers and Bordeaux. He returned to Algeria, playing with MC Saïda and JSM Tiaret. International career He spent time with the FLN football team in 1960 to 1962, and received death threats upon his return to Bordeaux. He also earned five caps for the Algerian national team between 1963 and 1964. Coaching career Amara had two spells as manager of the Algerian national team.
