SATRA
Satra Corporation was a US trading and metal processing company. It is primarily known in the United Kingdom for its Satra Motors Limited subsidiary, which was the official importer and distributor of Soviet Union cars and motorcycles in that country from 1973 to 1979. Satra is an acronym for "Soviet American Trade Association". Subsidiaries Satra Motors imported, modified, and distributed Soviet cars, such as Lada and Moskvich, and motorcycles made by Ural, Dnepr, Voskhod, Minsk, and the IZh whose Planeta and Jupiter were marketed. The motorcycles were sold in Britain and Australia under a single brand name, Cossack. Satra Motors was based in Carnaby, Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire on the old airfield. Carnaby is a small village and civil parish on the A614 road in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately south-west of Bridlington town centre. Dnepr ( Russian: Днепр) is a motorcycle brand produced in Kyiv, Ukraine. It has been in use since 1967. Motorcycles have been produced in Kiev since 1946 at the Kiev Motorcycle Plant (''Kievskiy Mototsykletnyi Zavod'' (KMZ), Київський Мотоциклетний Завод, (КМЗ)). Initial production was of a 98 cc two-stroke model that was confiscated from the German firm Wanderer as reparations. Voskhod () is the name of several types of motorcycles produced at the Degtyaryov Plant in the Russian town of Kovrov since 1965. All Voskhod motorcycles had a single-cylinder two-stroke engine with a displacement of 175 cc. Between 1973 and 1979 Voskhod was one of the makes marketed by SATRA in the United Kingdom as Cossack motorcycles. The Voskhod was introduced in 1957.
