SASTRA Ramanujan Prize
The SASTRA Ramanujan Prize, founded by Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA) located near Kumbakonam, India, Srinivasa Ramanujan's hometown, is awarded every year to a young mathematician judged to have done outstanding work in Ramanujan's fields of interest. The age limit for the prize has been set at 32 (the age at which Ramanujan died), and the current award is $10,000. Winners An F symbol denotes mathematicians who later earned a Fields Medal. The Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy, also known as SASTRA, is a private and deemed university in the town of Thirumalaisamudram, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, India. Kaisa Matomäki
Kaisa Sofia Matomäki (born April 30, 1985) is a Finnish mathematician specializing in number theory. Since September 2015, she has been working as an Academic Research Fellow in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Turku, Turku, Finland. Her research includes results on the distribution of multiplicative functions over short intervals of numbers; for instance, she showed that the values of the Möbius function are evenly divided between +1 and −1 over short intervals. These results, in turn, were among the tools used by Terence Tao to prove the Erdős discrepancy problem. Awards and honors Kaisa Matomäki, along with Maksym Radziwill of McGill University, Canada, was awarded the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize for 2016. Jacob Tsimerman
Jacob Tsimerman (born 1988) is a Canadian mathematician at the University of Toronto specialising in number theory and related areas. He was awarded the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize in the year 2015 in recognition for his work on the André–Oort conjecture and for his work in both analytic number theory and algebraic geometry. Education He studied at the University of Toronto, graduating in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in math. He obtained his PhD from Princeton in 2011 under the guidance of Peter Sarnak. Career Jacob Tsimerman was born in Kazan, Russia, on April 26, 1988. In 1990 his family first moved to Israel and then in 1996 to Canada. In 2003 and 2004 he represented Canada in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and won gold medals both years, with a perfect score in 2004. James Maynard (mathematician)
James Alexander Maynard (born 10 June 1987) is an English mathematician working in analytic number theory and in particular the theory of prime numbers. In 2017, he was appointed Research Professor at Oxford. Maynard is a fellow of St John's College, Oxford. He was awarded the Fields Medal in 2022. Peter Scholze (; born 11 December 1987) is a German mathematician known for his work in arithmetic geometry. He has been a professor at the University of Bonn since 2012 and director at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics since 2018. He has been called one of the leading mathematicians in the world. Zhiwei Yun
Zhiwei Yun (; born September 1982) is a Professor of Mathematics at MIT specializing in number theory, algebraic geometry and representation theory, with a particular focus on the Langlands program. He was previously a C. L. E. Moore instructor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2010 to 2012, assistant professor then associate professor at Stanford University from 2012 to 2016, and professor at Yale University from 2016 to 2017.
