SAFF U-23 Championship
The SAFF U-23 Championship is a biennial football championship for male footballers under the age of 23 and is organized by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). The championship will held for the first time in August 2026 in Bangladesh.The tournaments are held just before AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualification matches, keeping in mind about proper preparation for that. History On 9 January 2025, the SAFF virtual meeting was held in Dhaka. At that meeting, the SAFF tournament committee decided that, the SAFF Under-23 Championship will be held around May 2026. It is hoped that through this competition, teams from the region will be able to prepare for the Youth Olympics and the Under-23 Asian Cup. 2026 SAFF U-23 Championship
The 2026 SAFF U-23 Championship is the inaugural edition of the SAFF U-23 Championship, an international football competition for men's under-23 national teams from South Asia region, organized by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). The tournament scheduled to be played in Dhaka, Bangladesh from May 2026. Host selection At the SAFF Executive Committee virtual meeting, held on 8 January 2025 in the Dhaka, Bangladesh. AFC U-23 Asian Cup
The AFC U-23 Asian Cup, previously the AFC U-22 Championship (in 2013) and AFC U-23 Championship (between 2016 and 2020), is a biennial international football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's under-23 national teams of Asia. Each edition of the tournament that is in an even year is linked to the qualification process for the Olympic Games, whereby the top three teams in the tournament qualify directly and the fourth-placed team may enter an intercontinental play-off match depending on the slot allocations. SAFF U-17 Championship
The SAFF U-15/U-16/U-17 Championship is an annual international football competition contested by the national teams of the members of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). The first edition was held as ''SAFF U-16 Championship'', where most teams sent their U-15 team, keeping in mind AFC U-17 Asian Cup hold every following years to SAFF U-16 Championship. In the 2017 edition, it was held as ''SAFF U-15 Championship'' and the subsequent 2022 edition, the ''SAFF U-17 Championship'' was introduced. Football At The South Asian Games
Football has been a sport at the South Asian Games since it commenced in 1984. Since the 2004 South Asian Games, the age limit for men's teams is under 23, plus up to three overaged players for each squad, which is the same as the age limit in football competitions at the Summer Olympics and Asian Games. Nepal and Pakistan are currently the most successful countries in the Men's event with 4 Gold Medals each while India is the most successful in Women's event with 3 Gold Medals. SAFF Women's Championship
The SAFF Women's Championship, also called the ''South Asian Football Federation Women's Cup'', is a competition for women's national football teams governed by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). All seven members are eligible to participate in the tournament. History The current SAFF members are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Formerly, eight members used to compete against each other until Afghanistan departs from SAFF. It is held in every two years.
